I cancelled the captain's meeting for tonight. Rather just get it done but I'm sure so many couldn't have made it that I would just have to go out another night for it.

On the plus side it's a couple of more days before I get screamed at by people..

You've been lifting all those weights; just shovel your driveway this storm instead of working out. :D

The only part of the storm I'm really not looking forward to is the wind. I'm hearing 40 - 60 MPH winds, that could suck. Not fun losing power when it's this cold but I do at least have a generator to run the heat.

Edit- This one's been circulating on FB today. One of the local weather guys got his forecast creatively tweaked.

Good idea in theory but I gotta keep it clear. My wife will probably have to get out very early for work

Exactly..I'll be keeping my faucets dripping so I don't lose that pipe.

Picking up some springs. I'd be down for lunch if your cute little 2WD can handle some snow flurries

Same but no generator for us. Need to get one someone soon. Worst case we'll pack up and head to a friend house in Norfolk who does have one

damn what on earth did ppl do in 1800s when they got storms like these? oh ya thats right they made it tru them ...i think they had the advantage where they didn't have or need electricity i guess you cant miss what you don't have.i just find it funny that in this day in age ppl panic with 4in of snow on the way:popcorn:

They used horse-drawn rollers to pack the snow down so that horse-drawn sleighs could travel. Trains had plows fitted to the fronts and ran on coal-fired steam, people snowshoed, etc.
And like you said, there was no power to lose, and people were much more self-sufficient than they used to be. People in the country especially; they didn't go to town every day, usually they only went once a month or so. Odds are the only difference they'd have in their day-to-day routine from a storm like this would be that they'd have to shovel the front steps. Barns were connected to houses, so they didn't even have to shovel a path to the barn.
