the amount spilled doesn't warrant me to pull the carpet. the smell is what is killing me. does it matter what kind of vinegar and how do I apply it (by itself or dilute with some water)?

I personally use half water and half white distilled vinegar when I do my carpets. Usually I'll have a couple pots of boiling hot water on the stove so I can use that but I am sure in your case warm water would do. If you didn't spill that much I would just vacuum your floors. have a spray bottle mixed half/half and spray it all over the spot. Let it sink in a bit and scrub it with a brush, wet/dry vac it up and maybe do it again. I loke to soak it with the mixture. I sometimes wash my gym clothes with vinegar in the wash too so the odor will be neutralized.

For really really bad dog pee smells when my puppy was little this was all that I found would work (not sure about your case but just sharing) It comes in powder form and you mix it with warm water to "activate" the enzymes that eat the odor.

I got some of this odor eliminator thats infused with pine tree or something. but it's a in gel form, lasts ~30 days, and disappears along with the odors. I'll try that along with the half-and-half mixture.

one thing that concerned me though when this happened was, it soaked through the carpet and when I opened the passenger door, I noticed it leaking through the floorboard and onto the ground. I haven't really had enough time to look at it but it looks like i'm going to have to peel the carpet back some to see how that even happened.

Horrible. I was the one standing on the back and I didn't fall off because I lost my balance, I fell off because the road was so bumpy.

I would imagine that the organic solvent (alcohol) would evaporate completely in a few days. I would roll your windows down with floor vents on max and hot for an hour or more..or put a fan in your truck over night if possible. . After that neutralize any remaining smells by using baking soda. Or put some descant under your carpet. That pull any solvent out, organic or aqueous.

it happened yesterday so i left my back vents open all day today and that seemed to somewhat help. i'd leave them open over night but I don't trust the area where I live haha
