Looking for info or thoughts about upgrading my stock hood to one with a scoop and maybe putting a small light bar in it. Any thoughts would be great!

Scoop looks cool but servers no purpose. Put the LED bar in the grill. Someone had one the other day and I like the way it looked in the grill.

Yeah I feel like the cash you drop on a replacement hood with scoop + getting it painted is better of put towards a larger light bar that you can put in your lower valence, or even a roof mount.

Obviously the preferred route is getting someone local to trade hoods with you, but finding someone willing is like finding a needle in a haystack, so much so that most people have to be persuaded with cash+your hood to trade.

Skoop is not a upgrade. You will go from a perfectly good hood to one that gives you crazy glair driving down the road, especially in sunny AZ. There are even guys that have got sun burned faces on road trips from their fake hood scoop.

Agreed on the glare. I actually found the above thread while trying to get rid of my skewp. It worked.

I am with you on the glare, as I changed from my stock OR hood to a skewp'd hood purely because it looks rad... but I must call bullshit on the sunburned face portion of your reply.

If you sit at a certain height, with a certain posture, while the sun is at a certain angle in the sky, driving in a certain direction the glare can be an issue... but claiming someone actually got a sunburn from it is a bit much... that would assume all of the conditions have to remain the same. This means the sun, posture of driver, and truck have to be completely unchanged.

Source: Drive mine daily in The Sunshine State, often on trips straight down I-95, or directly into the sun on I-10 and I have yet to get any sort of tan from something as silly as glare from my hood skewp.

I am only stating what I have read on this forum from another member who has been around the forum for some time. Nobody called bs on his post, and I believe him, especially after driving around in other fake scoop hooded Tacoma's in AZ.

The nasty glare alone make them less desirable. Seriously, it is ridiculous to be blinded driving down the road by a fake scoop.

    Just a few LEDs...
I was driving due west for 2 hours into the late afternoon sun and yes my face was mildly sunburnt from glare off of the scoop. It's a good thing I had sunglasses or I probably would have had some serious damage to my eyes too. If you don't think you can get a sunburn on your face from the sun shining on it for a couple hours, go to the beach this summer and try it. Other than the glare I like the scoop.
