Just curiuos, why do you want more clearance? As long as it clears the caliper/ spindle/ uca even if it's just by 1mm whats the difference?

mud, debris, airflow... why wouldn't I want a little more clearance?

Going from a 16-17 rim with a bigger brakes kit should yield me around the same clearance I have now.

I see no reason to make it a smaller fit if I don't have to.

My truck is still somewhat of a daily driver as I use it 2-3 times a week to go back and forth to work and run errands.

Geez... I step outside to take advantage of the 70 degree weather to detail my truck inside and out...

...and I miss another Romper Room afternoon in this thread.

And while cleaning my truck I noticed that my weather stripping that acts as a door seal is ripping in two spots. One of which is approx 5" long.

I think it was TasherTacoma, or whatever his name is (the dude with a chick shaving his head with an axe) who just posted a quasi walk through on how to replace this. Definitely on my list for spring projects.

Also noticed while driving with my windows down... that I have a squeak/rattle from what seems like my front suspension components. Also makes the same noise when I shut my driver's side door... but not my passenger side

Sorry but a larger rim does not make your truck taller when the tire is aired down. The distance from the edge of a 33" tire to the center of the hub is the same whether it's on a 15" wheels or a 20" wheel.

If you're trying to say that the amount of actual drop in height is less because a tire on a larger wheel won't deflect as much, then you're talking about a miniscule amount of difference in the height of the truck.

Then with less deflection of the tire on a larger rim the tire will not conform as well to terrain irregularities, it put the rim closer to rocks and other potential damage. Much more likely to bend or break a larger rim with less sidewall on a tire. You won't get nearly the same amount of floatation and tracking improvement either.

Take a look at some of the Arctic Trucks. The run MASSIVE tires on a 15" wheel so that the get the most floatation and traction as possible. There's a reason they do that.

I'm a fan of 15"wheels. I've passed up awesome deals on some killer rims for my Tacoma because it would have meant not being able to run a 15" wheel. I'd run a 15" wheel on my Land Cruiser too if I could but the 16" is as small as I can do and fit over the brakes, so 16"s it will be.

I prefer 22s for wheeling, the larger rim grips the rocks better.

I'm on my phone. Kind of a PITA to search for threads. But I know it was fairly recent.

I professionally installed this decal on my truck today.
I'm pretty sure it gave me +5HP. Give or take.
