Yes however I am not planning on taking my truck to the arctic.

I like the handling on road of a larger wheel. so I chose to stick with the stock size for my vehicle instead of going smaller.

and thank you for clearing up the physics of the larger wheel is the same height when aired down but yet my other reason is for larger brakes and on top of all this.. a preference.

this entire debate started over a kid who was torn between 17 inch and 15 inch wheels on a daily driver.

I said my reason for going with 16 over 15 which in no part negatively impacts the OP.

Yet was the target of negative remarks with no real reason other than they wanted something to be.. NANA boo boo stick your head in doodoo about.. LOL

Nobody here is planning to take their truck to the artic. It's merely to illustrate a point. That point being that maximum traction is found when a tire is able to conform and move to match the terrain, and that happens more effectively with a larger tire on a smaller diameter rim with proper air pressure.

This is not an attempt to say the only *right* way is to run a 15" wheel. If you're looking for optimal offroad performance, then it allows that. If you are after something different (like on-road behavior) like you mentioned, then sure a larger diameter wheel with shorter sidewall along with higher air pressure will probably be better. But I thought we were talking about being off-road, not mall crawling? I also understand running a larger wheel so you can run bigger brakes. Again, it's all tradeoffs. You sacrifice some of that tire performance for better braking, no problem. Not everyone feels the needs for bigger brakes, for those people, like myself, I'll choose the tire performance on a smaller wheel.

No right or wrong, just different goals.

I understand what your saying and thank you for letting me know what you think though. Some people just read my question and don't put in any input. But I'm not a kid buddy

You need the whine of a supercharger to keep your mind off those things.

You say that now but I know one day you'll suddenly start thinking about such an adventure.

    ...too much shit to list.
Size matters. The 18" is pretty muted if you still have stock cats.
14" if you do have stock cats, 18" if you don't have cats at all.

Part of me wants to get an 18.

Most of me likes it quiet when driving.

Plus it'd only be a "cool" factor for me so priority on that is way down the line.

Look up aero turbine 2525, compare it with magnaflows. I think those 2 sound the best
