So a few friends and I are planning a trip to go boarding in mid-March. I've been to Breck before, but I wanna try somewhere else, maybe a little cheaper. I hear Copper and Steamboat are good. Where do you fine folks recommend?

Getting your lift tickets at King Soopers at a discount.

You're not going to save a whole lot of money between different areas based on lift prices and hotels/motels. Unless you pick a small area like Lake Eldora.

You could save some money by staying in or near Denver but then you would have to drive 90 minutes to 3 hours depending on where you're going boarding.

You could just rent a car and board for free up on Loveland pass or Berthoud pass as there's no lifts but you have to either hitch hike back up or have one friend drive down to pick everybody up.

Loveland ski area is very popular because it's close to Denver (before the Eisenhower Tunnel) and a little bit cheaper.

If I was you, I would't be looking to do it cheap but to do it well. How often are you coming to Colorado to snowboard? If it's rare than do it right. Go where you want and stay where you want. It's going to cost regardless.

Don't forget to bring enough extra $$$ for the legal weed.:rasta:

And be careful because it's some good weed. :D

Good advice on everything above except for the weed part. I tried everything at golden leaf and none of it was that special. I'm a steamboat kinda guy, but that's only because my boss owns a hotel there and I stay for free. Not to mention he pays for my air and car rental. :D Loveland is nice but I like the drive

Not really looking to hike back up the mountain. I'm a lazy mf'er. lol. And I'd really want to stay within walking distance of the base. I'm putting together some packages right now and the Steamboat package comes to about $1300 per person (Lodging, Lift, and air fare) Does that seem right? for 3 people

I ski almost exclusively at Copper Mountain. It's really good. I was able to get 5 tickets for $150 which wasn't too bad of a price.

Steamboat is excellent. It's about three hours out of Denver from DIA. Went to grade school there. There's a hot spring about 45 minutes to and hour away. Not hard to find. Well known. Not sure if it's still clothing optional.;)

Not sure how long ago you visited but when it went recreational there was a run on weed and it was hard for many dispensaries to get. And what they did get the best went to medical patients. Should be a fairly nice selection now. Unless Golden Leaf just sucks.

Stick with these edibles and you shouldn't be disappointed. Be very careful. The edibles take a while to kick in and they are potent. Be patient and don't eat too much at once.

This one comes in indica and sativa and taste like Andes Mints. One piece should be sufficient, even for "experienced users". Remember, you can always eat more an hour or two later.

These come in three varieties and taste like Tootsie Rolls. They really are quad doses and I suggest you not take more than ¼-½ on your first go. Again, "experienced users" will tell you to be careful.

Oh lawd. I don't think my employer would be happy if I came back high, lmao. If there wasn't a chance of me getting hurt on the job and getting drug tested, I'd be all over it. ;)

I think I've narrowed it down to Steamboat or Copper. Here's the two planners for 4 people, 4 nights, 3 days on the slopes.

    Copper
    Lodging 2-bedrooms : $1426.36 (356.59 per night)
    Lift tickets (4) 3-day : $864
    Board rental (4) 3day: $393.96
    Total : $2684.32

    Steamboat
    Lodging 2-bedrooms : $1168.40 (292.10 per night)
    Lift tickets (4)3day : $998.40
    Board rental (4)3day : $403.20
    Total : $2779.55

Then a round trip flight for 4 people is going to be about $1000 from Atlanta, so add that to the price. This is looking pretty decent right?

Copper is great. And if you want to do flip and shit, there's the indoor foam pit there too.

For that price breakdown, go with Steamboat.

The mountain is great and you actually have a town to take advantage of rather than just a village.

    Plus Strawberry Hot Springs park.

A-Basin is pretty cheap and it's a good mountain. Rent your stuff in Denver at somewhere like Colorado Ski and Golf...should save you a little bit. If you can, just ask some strangers if they have "buddy" passes you can use or buy em in advance online and it should be a bit cheaper.

If you're traveling in from out of state, definitely go to Steamboat... Worth the extra cost. More to do in that area and you're away from that I-70 madness

I'd vote Steamboat, even though I love Copper. You'll have a lot more to do out there and like Eric said, you'll avoid the I-70 chaos.

Well folks, I think we're going with Copper. Turns out, the airfare to Steamboat is WAY more expensive than airfare to Denver. Also, we really don't plan on doing much other than boarding, then grabbing a bite to eat, then relaxing.

I'm going through the same dilemma! I'm thinking Breck, Snowmass, or Vail. My GF and I would be classified as intermediate snowboarders. We just like to cruise the blues. Any suggestions?

Thanks! And great advice on the edibles haha

Fly into Denver and take a shuttle to Steamboat. Your hotel might even offer one or have a suggestion for one. You'd layover in DIA anyway in order to get to Steamboat and depending on the flight schedules into Steamboat you might actually get there sooner than flying in. It'a approx. 3 hours from to DIA to Steamboat.

Any of those should be cool. Breck is very popular and has a great village.

If you can afford Snowmass than that's where I'd go. Isn't Snowmass just the Aspen side for snowboarders? Used to be you couldn't snowboard at Aspen.

Aspen is the most expensive land on planet Earth. No joke.

FYI, you could easily stay in the Dillon area and ski Keystone, A Basin, Vail, Breck, and Copper from one hotel.

Breck is always my first choice for skiing. Mainly because my aunt and uncle have a house on the top of Baldy.
