No where really in MD thats not private. I know of two dirt roads with stream crossings in Montgomery County, but theyre maybe a mile long each and definiteyl not worth the drive out there haha

You may want to check out Red Cloud Off Road. It's in Woodbridge, Va and iirc is a $40 entrance fee, but a lot of the Northern Va guys have been there and really like it.

Doug with the rover has been there a couple of times. said it's a much easier park than somewhere like rausch (and smaller of course), but that it's still a great time, and if you get creative, there are some really nice lines.

 

That's all you really need then.

 

Not Md. but we atv up in the schmokin/trevorton/minersville area of Pa. off of I-81. About a 2.5 hr drive from Baltimore. I never took any of my trucks up there but when we go atv'ing there's always alot of trucks trail riding. They have a large mud pit swampy area and we will park the quads and watch these huge ass lifted trucks taking turns trying to make it thru. Alot of trails is a understatement. I was told by a local that you can ride the trails up to the N.Y. state line. We always take a hand held gps. Search trevorton or minersville on youtube and watch some of the many videos.

 

And watch for armed locals... No kidding.

 

I'd be down to join you guys one weekend if i'm not travelling. It's only about a half hour from my apartment so i'd easily be able to join the caravan haha could probably talk some of the Va guys to join in too

 

I did see some locals shooting bottles once. I've been atv'ing there for the last 10-12 years now and never had a issue. I'm also a member of a honda atv forum and we have had meets there many times. Here's a pic from a meet there a couple years ago. We had guys from N.J., Delaware, Md. and Va. come up there, we have a blast.

 

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Might run to Va Saturday. I'd be up for a meetup too if others want to as well. Want to try and set up a date and time to meet down there sometime soon?

I remember Chip saying something (like two years ago) that he went to Shamokin once, but havent heard much else about it.

 

I believe the Md trails are closed from the end of Nov.thru March for hunting and weather conditions also I think only extreme western allegheny and garrett county has operating orv trails now it on dnr web site

 

Search AOAA trails. It's the schmokin area. Northumberland co., Pa.

Yup. Pretty boring if you don't want more than camping or public land hunting

 

There's a loop over in WV up by Canaan/blackwater it's I think called Canaan loop runs from Canaan Valley down thru dolly sods. I did about 2 miles of it with two buddies stopped at the bottom of a hill kinda rocky an my buddies truck would go in 4wd so we turned around. That's about the only thing I know semi close that isn't private an not just a gravel road
