Remember, once the pressure in the fuel lines is gone from leaky injectors, no more fuel is going into the intake. liquids will totally depressurize after a small amount has leaked by. There is not much that would have accumulated in those two cylinders.

    Gasses can be compressed.

    Liquids can only be pressurized.

Hmm. For some reason I had thought it was replaced. I'm going to go back and check some other things because this info throws a wrench into a few of the thoughts I have had.

IM gonna be pissed if it is part of the problem. I trusted the word of the original engine guys too.

Thanks Bama. Not sure what you're thinking on this yet, but thanks for even just thinking about it period :)

Sorry, it's hard for me to do quotes on my phone. I was referring to Bammas post about the Mass air fuel sensor. I was pretty sure that had been checked and rechecked.

As I said, I will be pissed if That MAF is part of the issue.

Or is this what you meant Koditten? Holy crap, not sure what the above means exactly, other than this sounds like a problem I don't want to have. Our mechanic said he didn't see a leak where they stripped that bolt (where the fuel pressure gauge would normally go in). And yes, our mechanic did find the return fuel line leak, and obviously replaced that section of line.

How the hell do I know if I have the problem mentioned above? Wait to see if the Taco bursts into flames when I'm down in some remote canyon? OK, it's for sale again.......

Nachos and Boardwalk Empire time. And margaritas. No more Taco bursting into flames talk for tonight!

Thanks for the ongoing input and support guys, all of you, even the folks I wasn't very nice to earlier today - sorry and thank you for giving a crap about our miserable situation![IMG]

Thanks Mod. Was pretty sure this wasn't actually something to worry about, but ya know, its always nice to hear that absolute reassurance when its something scary. [IMG]

Plus, talking about trucks bursting into flames adds excitement and interest to the thread. C'mon, you know the popcorn people read that and visualize this horrible scene from a movie - [IMG]we gotta keep it lively for 'em, right?

Husband took the morning off so we can go pick up the injectors together in our poor little trooper of a Civic. Such a champ, 225K, and all it ever asks for is a new distributor cap now and then.

I'm so eager to see this flow chart thingy and talk to the injector guys in detail about their opinion of the condition of ours when they arrived.

And even more eager to see how she starts after our mechanic has them back in. I know he had a doc appt today, so not sure if he'll get it all buttoned up today or if we have to do another torturous overnight wait.

Bama, you still thinking there could also be something with the MAF we should look at?

Here's a couple of photos we took when we were over there Sunday, and he had the FPR exposed. The third pic is from this morning, when we dropped the injectors off, and saw that our awesome mechanic had all that stuff taken off under the steering wheel with that fancy Snap On tool hooked up to the DLC3. I assume he had that stuff taken off to expose where you'd check the circuit stuff?

Our mechanic was disgusted to see how filthy dirty it'd been left inside those black holes in the middle between the two fuel rails. I forgot what those holes are called? Those would have been original to our truck and swapped over, right (not part of the new engine)? And there was dirt/debris all around that area that he cleaned up for us.

EDIT: Lower intake manifold plenum. Thank you google!

It seems to me that it's one of these scenarios:

    1) Something was not done as it should have been in the first cleaning/testing process, but now that they've been correctly serviced, they are OK; OR

    2) We need to buy a brand new set of injectors ASAP, because if these really were properly serviced the first time around and yet 2 failed a few weeks later, then why wouldn't some of them fail again a couple weeks from now; OR

    3) The engine dudes sent all 6 out for cleaning/testing and it was done properly, then they got results that 2 were bad and intended to replace those two, but then mistakenly put the two bad ones back in, and those are the same two that came back bad this time. And now that they HAVE actually been replaced, we're OK.

Looking more and more like Keakar called it, and Bama was the other person to mention this early on as well......

Keakar, I wish our engine mechanic had agreed to my request to replace our injectors back then, like you'd suggested. I did ask him about doing that, and explained that a friend had suggested the Bosch 4 hole ones to me. He said he wasn't familiar with them, then there was an awkward silence, then I said (because I felt I didn't have much choice), "OK, whatever you think, you're the mechanic that's working on my truck right now." He said, "That's right, plus I'm the one that's providing the warranty on it."

We are now at nearly $500 in injector related costs, so jumping from that number to ~$900 for a brand new set off Amazon isn't too insane......although I suppose even if we'd gotten a brand new set in the beginning, we still would have wanted to have the old ones tested to verify they were the cause of the piston hole. I don't know, so many factors here, it really does get confusing.

Just wanted you to know that I really did listen to your advice on this from the start, and did my best to follow that advice. So it's upsetting to me when you seem angry towards me that we didn't do what you told us to. I tried. And now, being the second time around with the damn injectors, and where we're at costwise at this point, we just simply cannot afford to spend $1K on a brand new set like you would recommend, even though we'd love to. And maybe we will eventually, but for now we needed to first find out whether they were even the culprit, before investing another giant chunk of $ into this truck.

EDIT: Keakar, I'm sorry I flipped on ya yesterday. I hope our PMs straighten things out, I'll spare everyone on the thread from hearing all the details (although Koditten would probably LOVE to hear the details, you know how he likes all the drama on this thread!). But I wanted to publicly apologize for overreacting to your posts yesterday, and also publicly say that I hope you come back to our little Taco family thread.[IMG]
