Machine is toast, I'll take it to the dump for you:D

I don't know anything about thermal dynamics, and I'm sure you checked but are all the consumables seated etc right? Might be a short or something lose in the machine, I've had similar with a Miller.

Great. I'll leave it on the porch for you. Sorry it went over the roof first. :D

The first thing I did was check and reseat all of the consumables. Also cleaned out both sides of the torch connector and checked the O-ring and looked at the pins too.

As long as it lands softly in the bushes.

I figured you did but we all have our moments. One day I couldn't figure out why the torch wouldn't cut, it acted like a didn't have the ground clamped. I checked the consumables, ground, air etc. Then one of the other guys comes over disconnects the extension cord and plugs into the outlet. Needless to say I felt like an idiot:D

Could the leads inside the machine be the issue since the torch is new?

Well after doing more looking Im pretty sure ive settled on which machine i want to get to learn with. The Millermatic 211. Looks like itll do everything i want and more. Plus resell on them seems ot be dang good since i cant find any real good deals lol.

Besides a tank, mask, PPE, and building material what else would be needed? The miller comes with a roll of wire so figure i can just learn with that for the time being.

The 211 is a great machine. Nice solid welds. I've been running one for 2 years now.

Horrible pictures; I now have free reign with a Miller XMT 304 and a 12VS suitcase...

.045 wire is some serious deposition...

Nice, sounds similar to the rig we run at school, but we use .035 wire.

kinda off topic but i saw in the news the other day.

There is a metal architect from Knoxville building the supper bowl trophy. the new article said he has built stuff for nascar as well and other things.

So i have a new welding teacher.

But i still hate stick welding. the new teacher showed us the reverse circle and i like that a lot better than whipping it back and forth.

Thanks, I have done a couple front bumpers as well. I really get into my hobbies.

Brushed up on my Al welding for a project coming tomorrow...

    It's nice using a 100% @ 200A spoolgun...

OK. Looks like it's something to do with the torch connector. Fuck. The torch doesn't seem to want to lock in-the twisty lock won't seat.

I tried all the consumables. The o-rings, nozzles, tip, electrode, start cartridge, shield cup, the works. I hate that fucking connector right now :)
