    Hello,
I have a 2008 Tacoma crew cab with auto transmission. We had a bit of snow today, so I turned the 4-wheel drive knob to '4H' (4-high), however, the 4wd dash light did not illuminate; nor would the vehicle go into 4wd. I tried several times without success. Also, the past several days, I noticed some resistance in the gear shift when shifting from 'P' to 'D'... I never really thought much of it at the time but now I'm wondering if it's related??

Anyone have any thoughts on what the issue might be? Is this an expensive repair?:(

    thanks

most likely the t-case of front diff actuator, and sorry to be the bearer of bad news but they are very expensive and there are no aftermarket options yet.

I assume this would be covered by warranty?

    This.

If you're lucky it's just an actuator (parts are relatively inexpensive). When my old 2011 Taco had problems getting in/out of 4x4 it was the trasfer case, thankfully it was under warranty and I didn't pay a dime. Hopefully you have some warranty left!
