This was flat, I have since progressed to vertical and my vertical hasn't improved past what my flat welds looked like when the picture was taken.

so my eastwood 250 mig came in and i set it up yesterday. i also added a cheap auto-darkening helmet since i had a 10% off new customer coupon ($880 for welder, helmet and shipping). i got an email that was promoting there new welder (the same one i just bought) and it said they were giving away free spool guns with purchase, so i emailed them to see about gettin one since there was a 30 day return policy and they just called and said the spool gun was on its way and should be here in 2-3 days. also i went with standard shipping and got it in 3 business days. i was called and emailed within just a couple hours of my spool gun inquires and i just feel like thats good business. i felt like giving them a few plugs for their cooperation. that is all.

I have a desire to fabricate a couple of things and maybe get some of my ideas out of my head and out into the real world. Quality welding would be necessary. I have done some mig and stick welding at work. Truthfully not a lot. If you really want quality welds in more than just steel, tig welding is the recommended process. I am going to buy a Miller Dynasty 200dx even though I have never tig welded before. I just thought I would share. If you tig weld and have tips please share! I have been doing a lot of online research about pulsing, and cleaning effect, and ac balance, and purging, and back purging. It all sounds wonderful to me. I am pretty psyched.

I agree, TIG welding is beautiful and strong. I just find quality MIG welding is more useful. My MIG skills are used enough to keep me proficient, I just can't find the time to maintain TIG skills. I believe MIG welding is easier and just as strong if the operator knows what they are doing. I have no use for TIG, but maybe you do. I can't justify having another welding rig to weld TIG.

How do you get that pattern? Mine are more washed together like a slightly ripply stream. Right now I'm just doing a circular pattern along my path.

I know this isn't exactly welding related, but check out the new machine my shop just brought in. 55af608f9909fdf403309c4bf83e75cc_3d83cb980f6722cbaf69f249ba7e6896c70b9918.jpg

One of the guys at the shop sent me the picture. I'll stop by this evening and see what all was included and what model it is. Looks like that box has s good amount of dies in it.
