So I just bought a 2015 trd off road tacoma. Felt sick paying 35k for a truck like this, but I loved my first gens I owned so I went for it.

I'm in my mid 20s so stereos are a nice option for me. I found one with the jbl system. I've read and some people in years past weren't happy with it for one reason or another. I actually really like the sound, but the truck within 50 miles turned into a rattling pos.

The headliner has no backing and vibrates off the roof, the doors rattle, there is a rattle now by the a pillars, the back wall rattles. This is with the bass turned completely down and under half volume.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? The dealer said they can't do anything without charging me. Do you guys really expect to pay this kinda money for something that's assembled like this with factory options?

The only time I notice rattles is when it gets really cold. Once the temps warm up the little rattles go away.

You're lucky you only have little rattles. Just wait a few more thousand miles and see what else you find out.

The only thing that's ever rattled in all 3 of my 2nd gens was the door liner seals. It's a $10 fix and takes 10 minutes.

So, the roof rattles because of the sound system? Lucky Bastard.

My '14 was full of rattles and squeaks by the time I got rid of it. Toyota doesn't make them like they used to.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Ha ha I had this weird rattle I could not figure out, and people told me I am crazy.
Than one day Cat shield fell under the truck, I was like WTF. Guess what rattle stopped.

My advice is to just wait for parts to fall off and rattle will solve on its own.

My 14 is tight, I live on a rough 1/2 mile dirt road and have no interior noises.

My dealer fixed my door rattle even though I installed aftermarket speakers. They also fixed a door seal 3 times before they got it right. Maybe you bought from the wrong dealer, especially if you paid 35K for a TRD offroad in the USA. I paid around that for my sport in Canada. :notsure:

Put some pressure on your dealer. You paid a premium, now it's time for them to provide premium service. Good luck.

Are you guys talking about the sound system rattling things? If so heck yeah they rattle and so does every other vehicle on the road. We can hear the rattling 2 city blocks a way.

But if it's true road rattling is going to be widespread in Toyotas from now on, then they have a very serious problem. Tightness that lasts for years and 100K+ miles is probably the single most reason (maybe tied with general mechanical reliabilty) most people choose Toyota (or Honda) over other makes. And it has been that way since the late 70s.

Only rattle I have is something in my driver door, though I suspect it is a speaker component or some sort of plastic clip. I have to wedge my knee against the door for the speaker not to sound like its stirring up a bee hive lol. Only real rattle I have!

When I get around to ever upgrading my audio components is when I'll fix it. Non JBL by the way.

Dealer should be responsible for these kinds of issues.
I would ask one of their representatives to go for a ride with you and show them your concerns. If they don't budge go up the chain to the manager.

I didn't really want to give up the Taco, but I needed something more heavy duty so I'm in a 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLT Z71. I know GM gets a lot of hate on here, but they've always been good to me.

My door rattle turned out to be the screws on the window switches. On the drivers side they use screws instead of clips. Screws tend to loosen out of plastic over time.

That's apples to oranges. For the 2500 HD I'd want I could get two Taco's lol. The duramax is sort of under powered compared to everything else but the rest of the truck is solid. Good choice .
