Thoughts on 37s

The "return to center" is gone, like if you let go of the wheel it just stays where you point it instead of snapping back to center. It's hard to explain.

 

At.. so no more drifting the truck sideways and leting go of the wheel to center itself cool, thanks for the info. I found out yesterday while pricing out 37's km2's they run at 35.5" which is only a little over 3" overall diameter than my 33" (32.8" actual) which is only about 1&5/8" or so.so if you want bragging rights for running 37's run km2's they are actually my favorite tire but at $400 a pop it aint cheap

 

I'd be pissed if I spent that much on 37s and they weren't even 36s

 

Not sure where you found that, but according to their website a 37x12.50r17/D has a diameter of 928mm, which is 36.5".

 

Yeah.. was looking more into it and found out 37 km2's are 36.8" on 4 wheel parts' page, not sure how acurate.. I got the info from a local 4WP associate. I guess if you wanna find something out you should look it up yourself! 36 .5-.8" is still better than being under a 36"

 

A lot of the height depends on the wheel width. Look at the charts on the tire mfg page and it will list what width rim they used to measure. If you use a narrower rim than listed it will be taller than listed, wider shorter.

I am hoowever impressed that they got those tires mounted and the bead to seat. That couldn't have been easy

 

Was thinking the same thing myself. To each his own but I think it looks ridiculous. I would expect it wouldn't take much to blow a tire off the bead wheeling.

My buddy had the 37 km2s and his were taller than my 37" creepy crawlers. I'd bet they were at least 36.5" after 1k+ miles on them and a few wheeling trips. Mine were brand new and barely were 36"

 

Other than the height, how did you like the creepy crawlers? I was looking at their 35/12.50r16 but its my daily driver so I thought they might be a bad idea

 

So thats why maybe ibe been hearing such different numbers on tires... is the white taco on new style of LT? cant make up my mind on tires, when steared 90% or to lock how much clearance do you still need about for the give in the suspension bushing?

 

I'll let you know how tall my 37's (Super Swamper Vortracs) are later today when I get them installed (w/ pics). They claim a true 37".

 

Cool... can you snap a pic of the tire turned into the cab mount??? Ive only gotten one post on here, not sure if there arent too many guys on 37's or nobody wants to share their secrets :/
I have my chop done as good as its possible considenring I turned the rubber mount mounting bolts but i still dont think i have enough on the mount. I have about 3" in the firewall after i chopped it back but the mount is what limits it still

 

They are doing ok. They just don't hook up out here in the eastern wheeling area. We have to much mud and wet trails and they seem to fall on their face. On the other hand though, when it's dry out... they hook up, it's like cheating.

Noise on the road isn't terrible, it's not like a Km2 or mtr, but it's not a super swamper. Bad thing about the maxxis design is the carcass is really round and you will wear the shit out of the middle quickly.

 

Here are some pics. Obviously, I'm wider than you, but it might help. I also don't have steering stops like stock, so I can turn much tighter than you, and you also don't have tubing welded all over the frame but you get the idea.

 

37's are on... I'll give u some pix of what I chopped tomorrow.
