Just ordered the coax kit for my 2 meter install. Got so damn busy at work I forgot to order it this morning. So now I am sure it wont be here until monday. Dang job. Oh well. Going to stop at the truck stop tonight on my way home and see what they have for CB radios and antennas. Anyone on here have a good radio/antenna for sale?

The look on everyone's face when they finally get told that Fisheries and Wildlife Management and Biology is actually a ton of math and models. I am expecting a lot of failures and or swapping of majors by the end of the semester .

You guys can can get a regular 2m single band radio and it will be 100 times better than our cb's out on the trail. I incorage you to do so. Because like truck parts I think it will grow. The network that's out there and the reflector I've had built is a place that we can all keep in touch during your everyday activities. That's the point. HF, an Icon 7100 will be my next thing in the truck that will probably replace my CB.

If you buy a HF mobile rig that can be modified to include 27Mhz then you actually kill 2 birds with one stone. Like I said before I use to run the icom 706 and a yaesu atas100 antenna in my truck. I had 2 meter, 440, 6 meter, and all HF including police frequency. So I had everything in one radio. Plus it had a remote kit. I mounted the control head up on my dash and the main radio under my seat. I had 1 antenna that I used for 2m,440,6m and the atas100 to cover all HF plus cb. I need to look at the new radios out as I hear yaesu has a pretty compact radio very similar to the icom. Plus by keeping with a yaesu radio a person might not have to run any type of a tuner to work the atas100, maybe. So that is 1 less piece that could fail.

I went to pacific recycling yesterday and bought some stainless and I am going to make my own antenna mounts. I think I can make a little better mount to fit my truck. I appreciate the ideas on the 520xl cb. Going to see if I can find one in town today.

If I can replace the CB and have the option to use it as a CB I would be interested. No reason to get HAM if its only the wyo guys with it. Then when I go south with the CO crew or possibly Moab, I'd just have a radio taking up space.

Most mobile hamshave a separate face plate from the radio these days.

Haha yea you could. But..those radios cost over a grand so...yea..

But more and more people are getting hams. You wouldn't be the only one at some point. Hell some of the co guys could have them already

at some point. The reason I like CBs is because its cheap and affordable for anyone. Its gonna suck if we all start using HAM in place of a CB and new guys have to dish out $500 plus just to be included. One thing I will like about ham is that its a bit more professional. So less BS'ing will be over the radio.

CBS aren't going anywhere because they are cheap and work for most situations. We won't be getting rid of them.

Hams are more versatile and useful and yea j guess more professional if you put it like that.

oh heck I would not get rid of CB. Just because it is cheaper and available at almost any truck stop or walmart. Plus you dont have to have a license to use.

Honestly, buying new with the cvt GB is probably going to be cheaper than buying one used. I sold mine for a few hundred less than I paid for it and people were lined up for it.

Yea the gb is the best way. But be hard this year. I'm sure it'll be limited quantity.
