245 to 265

if i replace the factory 245's with 265's on my new access cab do i have to have it re-geared? is the spedometer/odometer going to be way off? will the tires rub? any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Agreed. I've clocked my odometer on the freeway and found that it's reading 4% too fast. I'm planning on getting 265/75-16's on my truck soon, and I expect that will get my odometer/speedometer reading close to right on.

 

That depends on what wheel you use. A couple months ago, a friend of mine put Open Country 265/75-16's on his stock aluminum Toyota wheels and he has no problems rubbing.

Yesterday I was at America's Tire. They put a 265/75-16 DuraTrac on a chrome MB wheel I liked. It looked great on the front of my truck, but it rubbed at the mudflap when the steering wheel was turned about halfway. They mounted it on a different wheel with a different offset and backspacing, and it cleared everything, but I really didn't like the wheel style. I went home with my Dunlops and steel wheels still on.

 

No you will not have to re-gear, 265/70/16 is the stock size on the TRD OR version, so no they will not rub.
I went from 245 to 265 and checked with 2 gps's my speedo is accurate.

new access cab 5 lug or 6 lug??

 

What wheel did it rub on?

I was thinking about an MB wheel for mine...
