BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
but not braking. It can't stop you is correct.

Not what I'd expect to hear from someone who had a bad ABS experience, given the bone-rattling vibration you get when it engages. But if that's her story, OK.

Anyway, I just want to report that this morning my Tacoma executed yet another ABS-assisted stop in fresh snow, remaining straight and upright throughout. Yes, the stopping distance was pretty long; no way to tell how long it would have been without ABS. :notsure:

We just got 26" of snow from Juno and we're getting another 4"-8" as I type. Just this week, I've driven in 12" deep snow, 4" deep snow, hard packed slippery snow and my ABS never kicked in while stopping/braking.

    Just edited....beat me too it!

Maybe that's why ABS didn't kick in....I was breaking instead of braking!!

Nice story. Now do it on glare ice with a little gravity behind you and an 18 wheeler stopped in front of you.

Sorry if that happened to you. I haven't read all 70 pages of this thread. Nothing's gonna stop you in those conditions. If you hit the 18-wheeler, it's not because the ABS is dangerous. Sometimes, life is just dangerous.

Having brakes would be a good place to start. Not because ABS is dangerous.... you're sure about that?

I think a stopped 18 wheeler is an excellent option to stop your truck quickly ;). Better than not having ABS anyways :D.

Don't bug OZ-T. He's just having a stroke. He'll be joining his dead grandma who couldn't stop on wet snow soon

Ya, laugh it off until it happens to someone you care about, I guess. Who needs brakes anyway.

:notsure: If it ever happens to me and I lose a family member I'm not going to blame the ABS system. Especially since most of my family drives GM, it'll probably have more to do with the airbags not going off.

BTW if you smack into the back of a STOPPED semi, you are the one who is being an idiot. Sorry I laughed at that :jerkoff:
