Is it literally stalling/killing it? What situation is that an advantage?

Pretty much stock with some crap welded to it.
It's just testing your parking break, in case u need to stop on a steep incline in a manual. The truck dosnt follow u down the hill,

    :D :D

It just means that your brakes are strong enough to stop your truck should you really, really need to, and that your parking brake is strong enough to be reliable as a backup in case something happens to your main brakes (like a ripped hydraulic line).
If you can hold the service brakes (main pedal), put it in 1st, and slowly let out the clutch, and your motor stalls out, your brakes meet the minimum requirement. If your truck doesn't stall with your foot on the pedal, or if the truck creeps forward with it in gear, clutch out, and foot on the brake, you have some repairs to do first.
Same story with the parking brake. If you engage the parking brake and the engine stalls in third gear with the clutch slowly let out, you're fine. But again, if it doesn't stall, or it creeps forward with the clutch out in third gear, and the parking brake is on, you have some repairs to do first.
And yeah, as Cohbs pointed out, you need to be able to park the truck on a *steep* hill and exit it without fear of it rolling away. You will likely need to be getting in and out a lot, either for views, or to scout the trail/obstacles, or to watch/wait for others attempting obstacles.

I feel picked on. Why is so much of shit mentioned? You should try to camp where papa camped last year or I have a feeling some people will learn camp etiquette the rough way. By that I mean we are all impressed by your light bars but when you hit camp shut the damn things off.
