Has anyone had issues with their Tacoma engine revvin up on smooth starts? I've been driving for over 43 years and it feels like the transmission is slipping at some points and downshifting quickly. I was told the computer shows nothing. Well computers are reading static information and not connected while driving. I was told that the Camry has these issues, but no advisory has been issued for the Tacoma. Why can't mechanics troubleshoot like in the old days and not wait for advisories and recalls.

also, after I told the service center my stereo turns on and off by itself and spits out CD's. I was told that my stereo was a known issue. Why aren't the owners alerted to this and I have been waiting for one month and still no contact regarding the replacement.

Has anyone else had these issues?

    Welcome to TW!

There are a couple of threads about this very issue. Seems a bunch of '09 owners are having both problems.

I know how you feel. I bought a 2009 Tacoma in May. When I slow down for any reason my transmission downshifts and then seems to search for a gear, when I accelerate it lags in response and then lurches forward. I took it to my dealer and he told my it was the new technology. Drive by wire (computer) and to get use to it because there is nothing wrong. I am taking it back tomorrow probably to be told the same thing, but I feel it is a safety issue and major problem.

On to the radio, Mine started having a mind of its own and when they ordered my new one I had to wait 6 weeks.

Earlier model of the Camrys had the transmission issue, but Toyota fixed it. I also own a 2009 Camry Hybrid and have no problems with that vehicle.

    - Billstein 5100's all around with OME 885 coil springs. - K&N Air Filter - HID Headlights & Fogs - Kenwood Stereo & Infinity Speakers - CB Radio, - Fog On Anytime mod - Anti Tailgate theft mod. More comming...
The transmission is working properly.. Mine's an 07 and it does the same thing... The downshift is annoying at times but is helpfull when coming to a stop.. i've heard that's why it does that (Helps braking, basically engine braking like with a stick shift).

The lag idunno about but mine has the same issue. it is annoying as hell but i've just gotten used to it. You can manipulate it a lil to make it go smooth.. If you give it gas and it's lagging, i let off the gas for the most part until it shifts, then i give it more gas.. it will only do it at low speeds.... But that's how they are man.. You're gonna have to get used to it.
