Wow, I would at the very least sand that down plus the perimeter until I stop seeing rust. Then apply some rust treatment primer. That will only get worse if you ignore it.

you mentioned the dealer. how long have you had the truck? since 06 or did you just recently get it? What did they say about the cause?

That didn't happen overnight, and it looks to me like light surface rust, so it can probably wait until April.

Isn't the warranty 'whichever comes first?' That would put your paint about 6 years out of warranty. :(

Agree.. it happened in about a months time..I also have a Chevrolet 3/4 ton 4X4 that sits day in and day out in the driveway and to this day has no paint peeling...

And no this is not a Toyota bash thread just to clear that up...I have had nothing but praise for this truck with friends and family..

This is what I would do. That looks like a bad prep job or poor primer coming loose. The entire roof is probably just waiting to come off in the same fashion.

Get the entire roof at least sanded down to a good solid base, get it primed and painted by a quality shop. I would not attempt to patch it as chances are you will be back again with the same issue in another spot...

My '06 super white was headed that way too, I had the dealer repaint it for me. I blamed it on the fact that super white is one of the only single stage paint colors on our trucks. The roof never really had much of a shine when I bought it in '06, after being painted it looked and lasted like it was supposed to. I'm surprised to see a blue do that, although I had the same thing on a '91 GMC Safari thst was blue.
