Sarcasm done right leaves just a little bit of ambiguity. So I think I must have done it right :)

    You need more reps!
Can't wait to see that. All of my engine's power is where I don't spend any time :notsure:

As for those saying Toyota isn't innovating, needs to make changes, is making too many changes for the sake of changing... You're building your house on sand. We have no numbers yet but what we DO have is the reputation of Toyota and this information about the engine cycle and how it works.

Toyota knows more than the average joe about making trucks, let them do their job and if you still find something not to like, don't buy it but I am betting it will again be the best midsize pickup.

Can't wait for the engine specs... So I am pretty pumped that they are revamping the idea of the Atkinson cycle. I stand by my prediction that all numbers will be increased.

I have seen the Toyota reps state HP and MPG will raise, but they fail to mention torque. That makes me think torque will be same or even drop. Then perhaps rely on weight/transmission to make up the difference. If I am wrong, please let me know where they do say torque will be up because I really want torque to go up. I forgot the Frontier, which is also a dinosaur in truck years, has like 280 ft lbs of torque. More than the Colorado which is 10 years newer.

People make it sound like its a whole new engine design but its still a normal suck-squeeze-bang-blow 4 stroke. Add special cam with a longer intake duration and it changes from an Otto to a Atkinson? Am I missing something?

When it sucks, squeezes, bangs, and blows, well...it does that special thing I like.

Its still an Otto Cycle engine, but the valve operation mimics the Atkinson cycle, in that the compression stroke is "Shortened". It does this by simply leaving the intake valve open a little during compression. Still has the same stroke length, and takes 2 revolutions of the crank to get the 4 strokes, where as the Atkinson Cycle engine accomplishes all 4 strokes in 1 crank revolution.

I can't remember where but I am fairly certain they're aiming to have the best numbers (or best numbers to weight ratio) of the segment.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Does wife 1.0 claim to be great at it?

I have wife 2.0 and the operating system gives me pop ups about how good it is. I click never tell me again, but it reminds me later.

Expensive upgrade but 2.0 is better than 1.0.. less blue screen of death.

I read that awhile back. It is interesting. Thanks for posting it.

I also read that its not exclusively Atkinson cycle like the prius. It is supposed to work like the lexus brethren with similar Toyota tech and under light load or low demand it uses Atkinson cycle for efficiency, but at a calculated point based of variables it switches to Otto cycle to improve performance.
