^^^ This. Keep 2 windows open, one on each side to allow for some air movement. That will be your best bet at keeping the condensation in check.

 

Yeah that helps when im camping. But im still camping in winter and the wife hates the cold so as much heat as I can keep in is for the best. I can deal with the condensation inside . I bring towels and rags to wipe down the interior. Im more trying to deal with the condensation when its all folded up and the cover is on the rtt when we get snow/rain/ colder freezing weather. maybe a towel or something between the black water proof cover snd the tent.

 

Thanks I do that most of the time except when its snow camping season. Do you guys keep them open all the way or would just a quarter open window on each side be ok?

 

I have the same problem. It doesn't seem to get inside the tent, but it does get on the aluminum floor and the inside of the travel cover. Haven't worried too much about it. I've also had an issue with water getting in while driving in the rain. I put a piece of rubber sheet between the cover and the hinge toward the front of the truck and it seemed to help.

 

Yeah I try not to worry about it but with the investment I cant help but worry. I dont want mold! How thick of rubber did you go with? And where did you get it? Maybe I can double use it. Like a floor mat for the ladder and debris from getting in the tent kinda stuff

 

You can get the Autana Ruggedized in Orange but it does not have the "sky" feature. The Autana could work really well for you. You, your wife and child should fit fine in the sleeping area and the annex (included) would be the perfect place for the boxer.

 

The sliding ladders (like the ones on CVT) are the only ones you'd potentially need a ladder extension for. The Tepui tents use a telescoping ladder that extends to 8'6" so even if you lifted your truck more or changed how it was mounted or put the tent on a much taller truck you'd never need an extension.

 

When you are back from your trips just set the tent up for a day at home allowing it to air out and completely dry before your next outing .

 

I do that normally. Im more or less talking about the time im not camping (I.e. work week and im mot taking off the tent from the truck and have snow /rain water in below 30 degree weather) I dry it out after every trip. But on a day to day basis as im going to work in the early morning and getting home after dark I dont have time or sunlight to properly dry it out on a daily basis. I think im just going to do some towels and such laid across it to soak up the water. But thanks for the input brother

 

Make sure and grab one of the condensation mats for the RTT's. I'm sure Adam can set you up.

 

I found it in my garage haha. It's like 12"x6"x 1/8". It's helped a lot with what you're describing so I'd give it a shot. If you have a local rubber/hose supply store, I'm sure they'd have a scrap bin to pick from.

Yeah I do that now. It just gets old. And when it snows or rains every two days or so I dont want to be opening it up every other day. But it looks like thats what im going to be doing. No big deal. Thanks for the help brother
