Yes and no. Snow was wetter by me and my tires that have done well so far this winter did not hook up well today as I backed out of the driveway.

So is the variable the thread pattern or the snow type?

more the stiffness of rubber. I would've not slipped nearly as bad with the duratracs

I can see that but the snow was still different today so I say give it a few more snowstorms or a good snow bashing trip like we had last spring. :p

I have not had a tire play better in snow/ice than the duratrac. Curious to see how these compare. MTR's are a rough switch from the duratrac in bad wintery conditions...!

they do have 2 lines of siping in each larger tread block on the sides but nothing like the duratrac. having both tires side by side you can feel the difference in rubber density. obviousy i wanna actually drive a few thousand miles with the coopers first but i have a pretty good idea as to which does better in snow.

yeah i was not impressed with mtrs at all

Hummmm. I leaning more toward the MTR's over the duratrac's. Now you have me double guessing. Good thing I have plenty of time to think about it.

I love my MTR's for everything except slushy or icy road conditions. They are awesome aired down on trail no doubt!

I'd say... since you're not go'n 4x4 swap soon... Duratrac's... even then... I'd still probably go Duratracs... That or the Cooper Discovery Maxx are my next tire... My Toyo Open Country MT's are nice, but haven't seen them Out perform the duratracs yet in snow or mud...

Sounds good Jace. I'll go with the duratrac's. Most likely 285 75 16. Thanks.
