I got a 2008 Double Cab Prerunner SR5 for 16.5k with 89k miles on it. They listed it for 18.5k but I was able to talk them down with my trade.

It has some visible wear, a few clear coat scratches and a minor dent or two along the edge of the roof. It's got one significant scratch in the front left fender by the wheel well, but it's easily fixable for under 100 bucks.

I want to know if I came out good, because I'm a newbie Taco owner and looking to get into the customization game a little bit.

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

wrong question to ask here. You are going to get some fun answers to good deal to you got ripped off I wouldn't paid 12k for that truck.

But, at the end of the hunt you bought it, you are happy with your truck, what you paid doesn't matter.

Hope you enjoy your new truck!

Thanks for the answer toomanytoys84, I kinda feel that way too, and I'm very happy with the truck, so nothing here is gonna phase me in that regard. Just was looking to get a general opinion.

My first project will probably be getting some kind of auxilliary port in the dash or an iphone hookup.

What feedback could we give you now:rolleyes:? This is the kind of question you ask BEFORE buying. So now, drive it, enjoy it. Welcome, you're about to spend a lot of money on mods :D.

I agree with the first two. At this point forget what you paid and what others are selling for and enjoy your truck. You can't understand-ring the bell so move on in happiness not uncertainty! Welcome to TW and good luck with all the Mods. Lots of great info and advice here.

My trade was a 2012 Accord Coupe that I bought after my last trip to Afghanistan brand new. I got rear ended a year and a half ago and didn't know about diminished value claims so I came out with about a 10k loss on the value of the car. CarMax and a few other dealerships offered me 10k for it, but I owed 10.4k on it so I wasn't about to take that.

I got the trade in for 13,750, and talked the Tacoma down to 16.5. I came out with a 3.5k down payment off the trade and ended up financing around 16k TOTAL at a 4.7% interest rate.

Payments on my honda were 230/mo. I got an aftermarket warranty for 3yr/30k from the dealership which added about 45/mo onto a payment of 226/mo for the truck. So now I'm sitting total at 271/mo.

Plus my insurance went down 730/yr, so with my first child on the way, I've got a little extra money to play and plan with.

I'm extremely happy with my trade, but a big character fault is caring what other people think too much, so I'm trying to quench that thirst now.

Congrats on the first child! I have two now, a 5 year old girl and a 6 month old son.

Nothing in the world like having kids! It's a PITA some times but it's well worth it.

When I bought my truck I wanted an AC, but with the family I had to go DCSB.

a brand spankin new 2015 Prerunner SR5 DCSB is like $21-$22k. A couple of grand more could have gotten you a new one. So yes you paid a little bit much.

MSRP is $25k. Negotiating $3k-$4k off is doable.

Eh, I couldn't afford to spend 20k on a truck, I was contemplating spending as much as I did anyway, and the wife was wary too, but we needed a truck, and I got one I liked, so I'm happy!

You guys opinions have made me feel better in the social opinion of it, and my dad, who has ALWAYS told me I'm making stupid decisions on big purchases, actually told me he thought I got a pretty good deal.

All in all I'm very content with what I left with, and that's the real prize, right?!

There's a thread titled something like "What did you pay for your used Tacoma?" in the 2nd gen section. Info from there could probably give you an idea of where you landed on the spectrum. But, like others have said, you bought it, you like it, you can afford it, the wife didn't kill you...you win! And it's a Tacoma, so at the end of the day all is right.
