I'm not ready to remove it yet - too used to having it, I think it looks weird without it. Probably just have to do it and get used to it, since it seems like there is consensus that it looks better without it.

Although, I can see from chip marks in the deflector that I would have had many chips in the paint if it wasn't for the reflector, so it is doing it's job.

Agreed.. once you get an aftermarket bumper, I don't think it flows so well. IMO

ordered the reverse switch replacement piece locally and pick it up tomorrow.

will tackle it next week with my brakes instal.

$40 to instal the part seemed a little ridiculous.

think im pretty well past the break in period. Its goten smoother and with normal driving you can barely tell when its engaging. Only thing ive noticed is theres more of a clunk going between drive and reverse. i had no experiance with the lock right but was worried about the road manners and got the no slip. I think its worth the extra money. Rocky road has best prices i could find

WTF indeed. MSRP is $39.68 (as given by both Camelback and Village Toyota)

Original part number was 84210-12040 and superseded by 84210-52050 (the one I posted earlier.)

    http://www.villagetoyotaparts.com/p...CH-ASSY--BACK-UP-LAMP/2369580/8421012040.html

    http://parts.camelbacktoyota.com/parts/2002/Toyota/Tacoma/DLX/index.cfm?siteid=214329 and search on 84210-12040

So, not sure if they have the right part given they are wanting $58 for it. Either that or Toyota Corp needs a phone call.

I had the counter monkey look up the part number and even though I claimed it was cheaper from another dealer he insisted $58 is the cost.

I did not buy from them but I ordered from the truck shop and will pick up tomorrow cause james was too busy today to have anyone actually have the part ready. even though it was there.

I think if I recall the truck shop wants $40 for it.. I will call again tomorrow and clarify.

This is not a part I have to replace but more of a want as I have ambers on my rear light bar that work fine for reverse for now, So I can order it online and wait.
