They were also #1 for recalls in 2012 and 2013.

2014 makes them #3, but Honda has 5 million due to the Takata recall out of ~5.6 million cars, so their ratio was skewed due to that. Toyota only had ~900000 units out of the ~5.5 million recalls for the Takata belts.

Not sure what technology you're talking about. Carbon fiber is extensively used in the industry, torque vectoring LSDs have been in serious sports cars for a while, the atkinson cycle motors have been in use for a while.

    Ummm Lexus is Toyota...

I feel bad for the OP. He was just sharing his thoughts on a vehicle that he likes. Then his thread gets completely shit on.

Was merely posting what I saw the other day, as I may be considering it as another vehicle, especially as my FR-S replacement (not that they're similar).

I do see we have a number of individuals in this thread that are amused with themselves, but then again I'm not 12 nor pride myself on gross ignorance (doesn't refer to everyone BTW). I'd move along, if what's here doesn't interest you. Just that simple.;)

Yeah, I've seen a few RC350s here, but not the RC-F. Do you mean you saw the RC-F or maybe it was an RC350 F-Sport? I was out of SA in late December and through mid-January. Unfortunately, unlike the 435i and M4, the RC350 and RC-F are auto-only. As for the Aston Martin, was it a DB9, DBS, Rapide, Vantage, or Vanquish? I wonder if it's a Spurs player.

+1 Yep, you got it sir! NOT that it even really needs to be said, right? It's a high-performance RWD V8 luxury 2+2 coupe. Honda will likely NEVER do such a thing. If anyone doesn't really know that of stubborn ignorance, not sure why you are active on a forum that concerns motoring for Toyota product (greater investment in Lexus may be also why funding for Toyota Trucks is hardly noticeable- ie Tundra refresh/HMC redesigns after 11 years).

Hope you're enjoying Maui though, as the weather there would be nice right now! Your truck is a thing of beauty BTW! That might be a template I will use for mine in the interim.

:DYes, they certainly are. First thing I did after buying the truck. Just wish I went bigger (with 33s or 35s with lift) though before doing that. What kind of tires do you have? I apologize if you already have a build thread and I lazily didn't look it up there.

 You're trolling, right? You really just have to be.

 Typing a little too fast? I believe you meant "it's made from 3 other cars..."? It shares the same chassis as 2 of the vehicles (IS and GS), so that is not surprising. The error Toyota made was using components from the IS-C, that was on a different platform, and not better engineering the RC version of the New N platform.

I wouldn't solely rely on keyboard warriors, unverified hearsay, and heavily (opposingly) biased journalists. Not that I'm absolutely in love with Toyota-Lexus, but I do respect and appreciate the efforts made and considered the RC in my recent car shopping.

Well, I share some disappointment in some aspects of the RC-F, but again at least they are doing something. However, calling it ugly is entirely subjective, as many people will never really take your sole opinion as absolute fact.

I am taking it you are not solely referring to the RC-F, but also the GS-F's identical horsepower, in claiming that F is not comparable to the others. Infiniti and Acura (except NSX) have not made genuine inroads in that area (high performance RWD-based, 4-5 seaters).

Audi is only able to do so with RS (charging what they do/develop accordingly), as they were able to initially piggyback off of the success and prestige of BMW and Mercedes-Benz as established German luxury performance brands via AMG and M. There are many different factors that come into play for Lexus in development, as opposed to BMW for just a 5-year lease life. I agree that Lexus CAN and should do better, especially if they want to booster their performance image and credibility.

Now, in regards to your "T A C O M A only mattering"... So, we are only supposed to endlessly babble in circles about the Colorado/Canyon/Tacoma, with a little Tundra thrown into that? Yeah, I don't think so. Not even true at all on TW (being solely Tacoma-specific).

Get back to me when Colorado/Canyon discussion really dies down and evaporates for once. One couldn't even discuss anything 2016 last year, without that jive being bumped up instead.

Really??? Are you 14 or something? If not, try growing up for a change, by like 20 years... I enjoy my FR-S, despite some of its weaknesses and if I didn't, I still wouldn't use someone's sexual orientation as a put down of what I didn't like anyway.

Too bad this is what TW/Tacomas and pickup trucks in general attract to a degree. This type of insipid doucherat stereotype, eventually saddled on the rest of us below 40 that are truck enthusiasts.

Thanks for the advice, I tried to have this relocated, but the mods were probably STHs anyway and didn't bother. I can see the mistake I made now...

MT is usually heavily biased against Toyota-Lexus, but I do like Carlos Lago and may agree with him on this. The RC-F isn't far off though from the M4 and I will personally put that to the test very soon.

I also agree with your other comment, as one should observe what is debuting in new Lexus models and use that as a template for some upcoming vehicles. Many of them will find their ways to Toyotas. If I remember, the 5.7L V8 in the Tundra was originally developed for the Land Cruiser back in the early 2000s, but the Tundra arrived ahead of the 2008 Land Cruiser.

    Yep, don't you know it?

+1000x I cannot rep this comment enough! Yeah, "too many bros with Tacomas" on TW (might be my new signature or similar), which is partly why I'm too lazy and disinterested to post here nowadays(compared to other forums).

Tashcomer and pbm317 thankfully continued discussing what they knew of the 2016 (pre-reveal), as I lost interest partly from inane commentary (and stubborn doubting toms). Great that a lot of us aren't like that anyway, in having sensible discussion about our trucks and other vehicles.

LOL! Despite getting a very early (exterior) preview of the 2016 last year, I really lost interest when I later learned that what was privately shown to me was something definitely that had significant mechanical relation (platform) to the 2nd generation Tacoma (GRN225, GRN245, TRN220, etc.) and that whispers of a next gen. 4Runner were possibly iffy.

+1 Thanks, but not to worry my man, as I'm not too shocked anyway. In fact, some of them should remember what they said, next time me or anyone else mentions preference over a non-Toyota (ie Tundra TRD Pro vs SVT Raptor), to just simply shut up (in order to not look like an idiotic hypocrite).

Between the upcoming C-Class coupe, Q60, this, and the 4-Series, they're all good offerings. The difference is, I would hope to count on Lexus' attention-to-detail and the dealership experience (very great one at North Park Lexus of San Antonio compared to BMW, Infiniti, and MB).

I was just shocked to be seeing this in a student parking lot so soon (a very random visit as well), as against a lesser RC350. Haven't seen it here in The Dominion nor Stone Oak/Far North Central area, so I found it unexpected in late January.

Here's some more photos anyway, plus a new 2015 F-150 XLT FX4 (last two photos) I saw after I briefly inquired on a 2015 Mustang GT at another Ford dealer and about a warning light in my Raptor (left edge of screen). The first lifted 2015 F-150 that I've seen. Hate the wheels though. :puke:

You picked the one flaw in my statements; why yes I meant from and not form.

It is ugly. Looks are subjective, but that car's front end is hideous. Independent polling was done, the vote came back as 99% hideous with 1% undecided.

Its chassis is made from the IS sedan, IS convertible (regidity for the center), and GS sedan.

Audi's RS belongs in the same league as AMG or M. Just because we do not get all their RS models in America doesn't mean they do not exist. I also forgot V, which is a letter worth considering.

Since the demise of the NSX, Honda/Acura hasn't been a player in performance sports cars in the USA, but the R models are going strong elsewhere, they should bring them to America because the average millenial loves smaller cars. Infiniti is not a player. That brings back my underlying point, performance sports cars. What exactly is this car? It is confused like the 2nd gen SC, not quite up to par with its target. I see it more as a very nice daily more than a do everything machine that was its target (M3).

If you like it that's great. I would daily an IS-F, but I also know there are better cars in the same class out there and I still would daily it just because it is reliable. Shit I would daily an S4 Avant, notoriously poor reliability, but it is a cool stealthy all around car (B8 because the jeweled headlights are stunning).

Post it on the internet and people are going to chat about it. Sarcasm isn't easily trasferred through a keyboard.

I really like how you threw in the whole "I am considering an RC-F/I own a Raptor thing;" well played.
    Us peons still have opinions.

Of course, I do need to be more observant of "sarcasm". 357sig is a good example of light-hearted sarcasm, but some folks not so much. Not everything is peachy keen of course, but nothing with a so-so or positive atmosphere.

Regarding the independent polling, I really like how, where, and when such polling was conducted. If at somewhere like Motor Trend and C&D, I wouldn't consider it such an "unbiased" source.

As for Honda, many of us would hope that Honda focused on offering Type R models here, but Ito-san and his board do not agree, as it not profitable enough for them.

I do love the S4 (except for B6 and B8 facelift) too, so I wouldn't totally count it out because of the reliability. The S5 was my first choice for a long time until the facelift. Just find a great Audi specialist (or save for 1.5x used MSRP before taking the plunge at all). Also, I'm not counting out RS models outside the US, but I am saying that Lexus is limited in chasing certain aspirations unlike "German" Audi.

One does not want them to pull an LFA and go way over budget, hindering profitability and garner resentment for overpricing. For the Tacoma and Camry, Toyota is lucky that it essentially owns those categories.

I am very recently disappointed with certain Toyota decisions/developments, which is why I said I share some of your own disappointment (recycling of components/chassis/engines/overweight). I do not know how they justify that silly excuse, of using the center from the IS-C for rigidity. Not a poor or small company (like Mazda), so why borrow from an older platform that probably has its earliest roots from 15 years ago (N-platform)?

One would pray the story of 2001-2010 Lexus SC isn't repeated here, but then again I already hate the uncomfortable ride of my FR-S and likely why it stopped being a daily vehicle. The RC is polarizing, but has it's positives I guess. Very comfortable drive though, with irritating blind spot.

As for my vehicles, please understand it is not like that (sorry). I never would've stopped there and seen that F-150, if not for those two factors (wouldn't bring my Tacoma to a Ford dealership; why F-150 caught my attention). I also was just explaining my reason for posting this and interest in the RC in general. Not really a boastful individual, as it's unfortunate that I gave off an arrogant demeanor.

I only challenge negative opinions that I consider unfair or misinformation. Not to attack or belittle anyone for no reason.

I was talking more about power train. With the combination of dual injection and dual VVT the engine can switch form Atkinson to Otto changing the efficiency and power output as well as the displacement. Instead of shutting down cylinders like GM and Chrysler, as Toyota has stated that process produces uneven ware on the engine.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=77_evtzrZgc He kind of goes into it at the 1:40 mark.
They have also changed the programming on the transmission so that it's better at determining what gear it should be in. This is a complaint I have with my 5 speed auto as it sometimes doesn't know what gear to be in.

I really like the look of the RC, better than M4 or c63. Audi still can't figure out how to put its power trains behind the front wheels.

I was only in for the pic on the main page, i didn't know there was a separate troll forum on TW, lol. You guys make the regular Texan's look bad. I'm going down to Houston next week, is this what i should be expecting? I thought the people in DFW were pretty reasonable....

If you want to whip out post counts i can surely top you both from counts on other forums, but it feels like a waste of time on this forum where it is "off-topic" everywhere.

Reasonably laid out point of view.

    Poll was a joke.

Pretty much yes. If you're non-white expect it to be worst.

Lots of big egos down here with attitudes to match.

We should do a little tacoma meet since you're around. You like craft beer?
