We get a lot of these in the yard this time of year:

    Lunch_11e26c8d521043f81e36459e6907df7a837c02c2.jpg

I took that picture through a big window in my house. It's hard to tell from the pic, but they're pretty big... like 3"-4" legspan. I forget what they're called... other than creepy. What really sucks about them is they build HUGE webs at dusk that can span 10' or more. Not a good idea to go walking through the yard in the dark. I cut my grass at dusk a couple of weeks ago and it got dark before I could finish - so I finished up with the headlights on. I bet I drove through three of these webs while going under trees, etc. Creeped me out pretty good! Couldn't wait to get inside and hit the shower. One morning last fall I walked out the back door to go to work and caught one of these webs in the face. The spider had built a web across the whole top of the door frame (right next to the porch light) the night before. After doing the "spider dance" for a minute, I calmed down and realized that he had already retreated to the top of the door frame and wasn't on me.

I usually leave spiders alone as long as they're outside eating bugs... but if they enter my house, they're toast!

You are right about the Brown Recluse being venomus, however I doubt that the wound is from a Brown Recluse.

    http://www.hoax-slayer.com/brown-recluse.html

Try again. If you want to be really picky, nobody really knows what it's from. It's just a picture of a necrotic thumb. Fact - Brown recluse venom causes tissue necrosis. The severity is dependent on the patient, the amount of toxin, the location of the bite, treatment, etc.

    Most camel spiders aren't venomous.

And you editted your post to be more vague.

I didn't say you were wrong. I edited my post because I stated something that I found to be incorrect.

I'll be honest, I might not be right either. Stupid internet can't be definite on anything.

my money's on the spider. guns lose alot of their effectiveness when you are lying in the fetal position sobbing into your helmet and begging your wife to help you

haha! reminds me of a beach story. me and a friend went to the beach with his parents. we were riding around on bikes drunk one night. we rode through a path that had trees on all sides like a tunnel and it was pitch black. i hit a web then felt something heavy on my head. i got off the bike as quickly and calmly as possible (i fell off of it sideways while i was moving). i then assessed the situation (i started screaming and running in circles). I then delicately removed the spider from my head (i ripped off my shirt while still running in circles and began swinging it around my head hitting my body and face with it while blubbering about not wanting to die). I then proceeded on my night ride (i screamed that i fucking hate nature and have to get back to the house as soon as possible before i have a nervous brakedown)
