Initial break-in period

This is not tacoma related but my sister had an explorer and we changed the tranny fluid and it started slipping and the same exact thing happened to my buddies hardbody

 

Did my trans at 36k, shifts smooth as silk.

Bout to turn 45k this week

 

So, those two instances concluded your in depth study opposing the recommended maintenance?

Oh yeah...I've maintained mine by the book. I don't tow all that often and I only plow my driveway but I know that both of those "activities" are tough on a truck so I make sure I stay on top of the maintenance. Have had very few issued so far; one wheel bearing and I had to replace the alternator last year. Not bad for 100K. This is my first Toyota. Having owned a bunch of domestic vehicles, I know all of the things I would have typically replaced thus far and the list would have been considerably longer. Could not be happier.
