Citrus is fun though. Nothing crazy, you make it what you want.

Really the only thing I recommend is a CB, just makes it more fun talking shit. Other than that you're not going to be left behind, this group has more knowledge and recovery gear then we know what to do with,

You won't need it unless this trail has significantly changed since June. I can see where it might get a bit more sketchy if there was a lot of rain beforehand, but it really wasn't a challenge when we went though. I believe even the 2WD guys with no lockers could do this one without any issues as long as they had a bit of lift and some larger than stock tires just to prevent any ground clearance issues.

Anyway, unless things have changed, if you're looking for a challenge for your LT rear and 35s, this ain't it. :D

Don't get me wrong, it's a more interesting trail than a lot of them out there and there is a bit of pucker factor in certain sections because you're leaned way over and only inches from the wall, but, like I said, I went through the hairiest looking lines with only one-wheel-peel and never spun a tire.

I know what you mean though. It's taking more to get my blood pumping than the legal trails at Citrus can provide lately. The steep hill climbs in the trail 10 and trail 20 clay pits are pretty much the only thing out there that really excites me. The rest of it is basically just a leisurely drive in the woods, which is fine too; it's just more relaxing than exciting and challenging for me.

I hear ya after wheeling the compound so much citrus just looks like dirt roads to me. I'm more excited for moab in May. I'm probably just gonna relax and not do much at citrus.

It's a shame that place is so damn far away from me. Like it's a shame Hardrock costs so much to get in (edit: actually it wouldn't be that bad now that gas is come way down, but $25 on top of $60-$80 in fuel was too much for me to do very often)...but then, I have a feeling Hardrock would probably get a little boring too if I went with any kind of regularity. It's too small for it not to be.

I'd pass on Moab. I'd be too scared of flipping off a cliff. On the other hand, I'd love to try the Rubicon trail. That looks like fun.

Maybe Uwharrie for something closer. The videos I've seen of it look like it might be a challenging trail. Maybe once I get the Odd Green Taco a little more capable (Plate bumpers, winch, rear locker) we can see if there's any interest in putting a group together for an Uwharrie trip, but that won't be until next year (hopefully that soon) for me.

From what I'm told and have seen video wise, URE isnt challengin unless you take Daniel trail and even then I'll just push a locker button and it becomes easy. Now Gulches looks badass or even Lazy Springs in South FL

I dunno...this looks like it'd be pretty challenging for me...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Az7jg77mDLc

BTW, before I scare anyone...this is NOT Citrus. ;) (I really wish it was, it'd be a lot more fun. :D)

Edit: Gulches looks pretty cool, but it looks kind of extreme for 33s. I wonder how big it is?

I did Uwharrie last year. It can be as challenging as you would like. Very large place. Camp grounds were great. The whole area was great!!! 12 hour drive from Clearwater.
I will be doing gulches this year. If anyone is interested I can do a post to see if anyone wants to tag along.

I looked up more about Gulches last night. It looks like a pretty fun place actually. Not as brutal as I first thought, though it can be I guess. According to Google Earth, it's only about 8.5 hours or so from North Tampa as well. Not a terrible drive. The only thing that really concerns me is it seems like it might be similar to Hardrock: not very big, so it would only take you about a day to do everything in your range of capability. Seems a lot better organized though.

Other than that, it looks fantastic. The rates are perfect. $50 for a weekend pass, which includes campsites, passengers, and everything we would need for an out of state adventure. Not a lot of camping sites though, but I guess any out-of-state adventure probably wouldn't have the kind of turn out we are looking at for this year's Citrus meet.

That said, Unless I have a windfall or hit the lotto or something, an out of state trip probably isn't in the cards for me until some time in 2016, but absolutely make a post to see if anyone is interested in tagging along and after you go, I'd be real interested to see what you thought about it compared to Hardrock.

Haha, right now I'm thinking that if I went on an out of state adventure, I'd have to figure out some way to trailer the Odd Green Taco. It'd really suck if it suffered a mechanical failure that couldn't be fixed easily or I rolled it or something while two states away from home. At least if I trailered her, I'd be able to get'er (and myself) home.
