So, I was actually looking at getting a new or low mileage, late model, used Tacoma when I ran across this 2002 TRD with only 56K miles on her . . .

It had the factory 16s with [get this] the "original" BFG TAs still on them. Though they had about a year of tread left, they were quite splashy, somewhat sidewall cracked, and one had a bubbled belt on the inside so I had these hardly used 255/60/18 Nitto Terras in the garage and these 18" MB wheels were actually cheaper than decent tires. The truck drives/rides SO MUCH better.

Next the factory sound system had to go so:

    Sony MEX-N6000BH Head
[2] Kenwood KA2-5206 2 channel amps under the front of each seat
[2] Kenwood KSC-SW11 compact powered subs under the rear of each seat
Alpine SPS-110TW Tweets - some minor door panel mod required
Alpine SPR-68 Fronts - some minor speaker mount mod required
Alpine SPR-68 Rears - some minor speaker mount mod required

For those that enjoy pristinely clear music at all volumes this is a great sounding system. These compact subs are amazing for what they are - just a 5x8 rectangular speaker in a self powered enclosure. They are NOT bumper buzzers but I don't understand the bumper buzzing appeal . . . not that there's anything wrong with that!

    Now, to get a lockable cover on the bed . . . ca-ching! It's on the way . . .

Looks like it will rub with the tire at full stuff and at full lock. I had to cut the rear side of my Glassworks 4.5" fenders to clear at full stuff and full lock.

The 315s rubbed my fenders already because they were uncut, doing that one night this week. They look fine though, I'm not going to re tub, not after all the work that went into my tub, we tubbed as much as we could without getting into the A pillar and body mount. MTRs come in a 315/70/17 they are scheduled for an April production date I will probably get those anyway before Moab because I don't have a full size spare now. Again I paid $400 used for these tires as a temporary solution.

On a side note I am now officially locked front and rear with cases on the way from lowrange.

    Nothing better than Bud Built.

I believe they also offer light-weight skids (1/8" option instead of 3/16"), which is the way I would go. Much less weight, and more than enough protection for non-extreme rock-crawling.
