Well now it says ANY removable floor mat. Wonder if that means the weather tech, catch-all, etc... Could be a problem with the pedal?

I too am scratching my head on this one. After reading the report I find myself wanting to understand how this situation came to be. There seems to be many logical avenues that were not taken. Could a drive-by-wire system fail in this manner? I have no idea, as I am not an engineer. But most certainly any modern brake system has more than ample power to stop a vehicle under full throttle conditions. All modern brake systems have adequate power to stop the vehicle by one axle under normal conditions. It's a sad situation with a terrible outcome to be sure but many questions are left unanswered.

In a way Toyota is taking the high ground by issuing the campaign, trying to nip this one quickly. SUA reports abound all over the auto industry ever since the 60 Minutes, Audi debacle took place in the 80's.

I just got off the phone with my "Stealer"ship and they said that If you are double stacking your mats, or have Rubber All Weather Mats to remove them from the truck, I didnt think to ask if Aftermarket mats are included or if it is just Toyota Brand Mats.

I would assume it is the Toyota Brand Mats. As.. If my Mat was to come unhooked and slide up it would have a slight possibility of reaching the pedal..

They also said that the dealerships will get more information reguarding what is going to be done about replacement floor mats for the DRIVER MAT ONLY.. Mon or Tues of next week!

thats what i'm wondering. so when they say recall, what does that mean? are they replacing the floor mats with different ones? are they just gonna remove the driver side mat and say "there ya go". how do you have a recal on something like that?

Typically "recall" means replacement of the faulty part or the entire model. Who knows what they will do with this though???

at that point i'd say fuck the engine. i'd rather stop the vehicle than worry about engine damage. especially on a loaner. either way insurance or the company would replace it

I'm surprised my wife's '04 corolla isn't on that list as well. It's a removable mat, with the hooks close to the driver's seat just like my '08 Taco.

I got the WT brand mats in my 5 spd truck and have had them hang up the clutch pedal when depressed to floor. I ordered them off a web site that had the manaul trans model listed as a proper fitment. When I brought it to their attention they said I ordered the wrong mats. They sell the same mats for auto & man. trans. vehicles

Canadians have floor mats? I figured they would whack a beaver or a Badger and skin it!:D

so many pages on this i didnt feel like searching for my question...

is this more for the Manual trucks rather than AT? because i know the pedal is pushed down much more often with manuals. I typically dont push my pedal down far enough to grab the floor mat if that makes any sense

just bought a 2010 camery se and 2010 tacoma access 4x4.

the camery has all weather mats I just bought yesterday, there is no way the pedal could get stuck on this mat, it is cut around the accelerator.

I have yet to see my taco, as it is being loacated and shipped, but it to has all weather mats, be interesting to see what they do at finial closing

sounds like its from ATs, all a manual has to do is push the clutch in, its a reflex anymore. The lexus in question,i'm assuming is an auto,I wouldnt think a lux. car owner would want to use a clutch.
