    A factor to consider with spares is weight.

    More stuff weigh more, which requires more effort to climb ledges/hills/rocks, etc. This stresses parts more leading to early/more failure.

    Try to find a balance. Such as, fluids can be "shared" among the group. If everybody has a quart of something, sharing can get somebody back above minimum and off the trail.

    I'm looking for a thread I saw somewhere that really went in depth and was well done.

    Granted, I'm one of the ones are the far end of the spectrum, but my priority is probably more towards being able to maintain stopping and mostly rolling back to the trailer. Most of the spares and supplies can stay at the trail head/trailer.

    Self-sufficient/multi-day trips are of course on the other end of the balance.

    Just to think about.

    all the more reason for you to leave at the same time as me. incase you have any issues and I have to drag your shit to moab.

    At the same time a little extra weight in the rear will help with traction, I'll weigh my kit but I'd be surprised if it's more than my spare.

    That sounds kinda silly. Nobody is packing around their entire camping set up. This is not expo. You unload everything and go back to camp every night. All I pack during the day is a sore tire, tools, spare parts and tools, and a cooler with Food and beer. The added weight from extra tools and spares are not gong to be significant enough to increase the chance of damage.

    So no bring as much as you can and leave it at camp of you don't want to pack an extra driveline or spare diff around lol. Believe it or not toyota parts are few and far between in mob except for what others bring down. So if you break something you are waiting for a delivery from salt lake or going to grand junction in colorado.

    six lug problems :rolleyes:

    it's only a old style 37X12.50R17 on a steely rim.


    X2 spare parts in moab for tacos are not common or cheap
