    This happened early december. Same scenario with mud and sand as well. Just showing this as a warning for those that remove the liner and don't do something about it.

    I picked up some 1/8 UHMW to replace the fender liner and if the weather permits Ill be tackling it this weekend.

    Can you do a quick diy when you do? I don't care about driver but mt air box is the same. And after the purchase I just made a snorkel is going to have to wait.

    I wheel, nothing extremely hardcore.. Mainly wooded trails, sometimes I have to crawl some rock. This truck will be babied until sliders are on :D How about 295s, iirc I read somewhere people were regearing for 295s, surely to God that isn't necessary?

    Nope, some said to re-route, some said it was fine and others said to do a snorkel. I found out pretty quick it sucks up dirt like crazy but didn't expect snow to be this bad. I planned on a snorkel but they cost so dang much and IMO not that great looking. I figured I would be fine through winter since the ground is frozen and I could replace the liners and or buy a snorkel come spring before wheelin season.

    To be fair, this was after crossing a mountain pass in blizzard like conditions. Should have known better but I just forgot.

    Sure. Assuming I successfully complete this haha.

    Find the FRV build. Steve has 295's and IMO it looks great. He ended up re-gearing but I believe they rode on the stock gears before hand.

    I just disconnected the hose to the fender and zip tied it out of the way until I either snorkeled or figured something else out. I did not trust it. I also have the v6, so not sure on the 4banger setup. I want a snorkel for function sake, just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

    Turned to the front behind the passenger headlight or to the rear into the little gap where the AC draws from but you need a diffuser between the two or your intake will suck the air harder than your fan...

    There is a write up on someone routing to the rear on an 11 and older. It was cool but again he figured out the hard way that a diffuser is needed.

    If I didn't have a snorkel I would route to the front behind the headlight for cooler air and ease.

    I actually looked at that after some people saying they did it. I am guessing the v6 has a lot more room. The 4 cyl air box is right next to the fender and disconnecting it would leave a few inches to suck in air. Didn't seem like enough room to me.

    Its not bad while the temps are cold. During the summer it gets hot though. So I guess I will get a snorkel before it gets hot.
