Exactly. Bunch of FAN BOYS. I get a kick out of people who bash the competition. If they had a Jeep they would bash Tacoma's. Both have flaws. Get over it fan boys.

Actually....The Jeep sites Im on have a lot of respect for the Tacoma, and most all agree its the best midsize truck out.

Rubitrux in Boone has been VERY good to us over the years. Their work in excellent and customer service better. It is well worth my time to spend an hour going over the mountain to their shop than try to source suspension/steering parts for lifted jeep locally.

I see Rubitrux conversions on the road on a very regular basis, and we helped by neighbor buy one of the conversions. We compared the cost/utility to a new FJ80 Land Cruiser and it won hands down.

As for buying a Jeep pickup, it would be high on my list.

The Honcho and it's older brother, the Wagoneer were quite distinctive. They are prized enough in the off-roading community, they'd be worthy of a retro design.

Of course, I doubt we'd get a double solid axle design out of it. Maybe I should start looking for a fixer-upper.

I must say I'm not entirely impressed with Chrysler products as of late. However, that being said I would like to own a Jeep at one point in my life as I do think they look bad ass done up right. Just my .02

X2. They already made a truck years ago
I agree. Some competition will be awesome. I won't buy one because I dont want to ever buy a new car at this point. Way too expensive.

X2. People probably just bag on jeeps because it's the only real out of the box competition, and some people just can't accept they are better at the same comparae metric that most tacoma owners are proud of, it's off road capability.

I wheel almost nothing but built jeeps. They give me shit, but I give it right back ( especially when they fit the stereo type and break) but I'm the only ifs rig ( and one of few toyota) out there every weekend on the hard rock crawing trails. It's a fun challenge and trump for me that I can do most of the same shit with ifs, as well as well as get a lot of respect for wheeling something different and being so involved in the off road community. I have impressed a large number of people the first time out with them because they are impressed where I take the truck, and they have a lot of respect for the toyota.

I will consider any non-full size truck when I go to buy, and a Jeep truck would pique my interest. That said, I'm a pretty strong Toyota truck guy, so it would have to be pretty special. Like small (I want another SMALL truck, more so than a midsized), reasonably priced, excellent features, and looking good.

I got no issue with acknowledging short wheel-base + SFA has advantages in certain off-road situtations. The only way Jeep is unique is they are the only ones currently producing such a config for the US market.

I also got no issue in relating that the 6 years I owned a Jeep was a maintenance nightmare with more garage time than trail time. I also get a tonne of shit at work for off-roading in a Tacoma by the Jeep owners yet I keep being asked why their Jeeps are broken and how to fix it.

If I ever get around to a restoration project, I'd be choosing from an old FJ, Jeep Wagoneer, Jeep Honcho, TJ Ultimate or an original Bronco(in order of preference). The CJs and regular TJs aren't on the list due to lack of utility, storage space being too limited. The Bronco is at the end of the list for the same reasons but it'd be interesting to work on something different.

Yeah, I originally had the Bronco second on the list but after thinking about the interior capacity, slid it down. If one presented itself, I'd have a terrible time saying no.

Couldn't agree more. I am in the same boat. I only wheel with a few guys that have Tacoma's. Most are Jeep guys. It's cool at the end of the day when the Jeep guys I have never wheeled with come up to me and tell me how impressed they are with my rig. Can't wait till I SAS IT.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
That jeep pickup was more like a Volkswagen rabbit pickup or el camino than a Toyota or a Nissan. It had a partial frame, and partial unibody based off the unibody Cherokee. I always thought they were kind of cool

I'm sorry, but I thought a Jeep Renegade was supposed to be a tough, reliable off-roading machine. That thing looks like a Mini-Cooper strip mall crawler (fancy malls are too big).

And it's fugly. I'll say this for the Daimler-Chrysler days; at least their quality and design aesthetic improved. Fiat is going to end-up killing these guys if left unchecked, and I'm not even a MOPAR fan (past 1971, to be clear).
