    So Im looking at picking up a set (five) Rubicon take-offs with about 500 miles on them (which probably really means 5000miles. Rims and tires for $1000 and plan on selling the rims (with TPS) to offset the over all cost. Hope this works out for me to be a cheap set of tires.

    Question is... good price and is the tire worth a crap to be worth the effort?

    Working on it.
    I found a guy a craigslist who drove his Rubicon from the dealer to a off-road shop and had it outfitted with bumpers, winch, lift, rims and tires. He sold me his stock rims and tires for $600. I then sold the 5 rims for $100. So I got 5 tires for $500. Steal in my opinion and the tires have been great, they are wearing nicely and while there not the biggest tire out there, they fit on the taco great with just a small lift.

    I've seen 1,000 for brand new take offs before so i think that the starting price that people sell them for off the rubicon.. just talk him down a little and it will be a great deal.

    Not worth it IMO if this is the case. I was hoping to be in the $500 range for the tires at the end of it all. I may have to rethink this!

    I know I want this size and was hoping to score a great deal. Glad I haven't done it yet.

    wow I stand corrected. But that is still over $800 plus shipping They really slashed those down recently. I wonder if BFG is going to stop making them and the Rubicon will come stock with the KM2.

    so the question is... can i find a jeeper that will pay 400-500 for the wheels:crazy: There's a sucker in every city, I just don't want to be him!

    Tirerack isn't an option for me, I live Indiana (about 1.5hrs away from them) and for some reason the shipping is 109.88 plus 55.01 tax. Suppose I could make it a road trip and get them direct.

    I can also take that price to the local discount tire and they will match it! :D
    I'm thinking that buying new tires is a better and safer option.
