I can think of three ways to answer this.

    1) Yeah? So? I still want it, so nyah.
    2) Who's Frank?
    3) BURN THE HERETIC!!!

Now, I'm leaning toward #1 with a strong lean to #2. Some very vocal fanboys, however...

Sounds like you need to sell your tacoma and buy a tercel. Then put one those 1" tow packages on so you can haul your half sheet of particle board home.

Sooo, you're saying that if I don't tow anything with my truck, I have it just for the hell of it, and I should simply opt to get something a little more economical like... oh IDK, maybe a Prius?

Interesting, I'll keep that in mind when my Prius is sandwiched within a 3 foot snow drift and can't get my ass to work.

THIS. Same thing happening with the Jeep Cherokee "winning" the Four Wheeler of the Year award, even though it broke down and had to be towed away from the competition on a flatdeck before it was even over. Unfortunately MOST of the media give awards to the manufacturers that spend the most advertising dollars. It is best to not give too much credibility to any reviews you read from the big name places like Car and Driver, MotorTrend, FourWheeler, yada yada.

I haul ass in mine. :burnrubber:

Need stems from want. I prefer cutting to the chase and just saying "want". Many of us live in a country that supposedly understood this and provides a market accordingly. If more people acknowledged this we could get rid of the whole rationalization process and the resulting guilt.

Someone posted quite a bit back that Chevy is attempting to target future truck owners and not current ones. Seems they are gearing their advertising appropriately.

Is Chrysler really still a part of the Big-3? *cough* Fiat *cough*

True. What was I thinking? I will fall in line and post "valuable" information like we have seen from ItalynStalyn and BlueT. ;)

Exactly, and it's not as expensive as a 4runner. You can tow with a lot os SUVs too, but having the bed is easier when you gotta move big, awkward sized stuff around from time to time and then you don't need to hook up a utility trailer. Guess some people on here forget what a truck is for.

I intentionally loaded 2k in the bed of my 4cyl. Before and it did not ride on the bumps. I have pictures and im sure I still have the weigh station tickets to prove it. If your tacoma is on the bumps after 500 lbs... you desperately need to fix something. The truck is rated to haul 2000 lbs

Not at all. I'm stating that for the people saying that the Colorado won't be as good a "man-truck" as the Tacoma and it's built to be a better commuter/grocery getter truck are likely 100% right. The only difference is I realize that's what most of us use our trucks for anyway which technically makes it more suited to average use. ;)
I'm glad someone else gets it!

This. I went and cruised the lot. Not much selection. I'm buying this year and will definitely test drive a Canyon/Colo.

I will be too. My Taco will roll over 100k in April or early summer and I'm getting the itch to buy something new. Based entirely on want, not need, as we discussed just a few posts ago.

I'm purposefully NOT going to test drive a Colorado or Canyon yet because I'm scared I'll go home with one. I'm holding out for the 3rd gen till I can see it in person but I'm still not sure I'm ok driving a 2016 for at least 6 years that looks exactly like a 2005. :(

Try to drive both the I4 and the V6, as they behave very differently. Also check fit and finish of the interior elements, orange peel on the bed, bed welds (very noticeable), fit of the weatherstripping in the doors, travel of the front seats (one had jumped its track), and stitching on the seats.

We've test driven Canyons 3 times, and there was always something. Waiting on 2016 Tacoma now.

Hahaha, I knew I'd get that response. When I need the bed I REALLY need it. But when I don't, I don't. It's not a work truck but I'd be pretty fucked sometimes without the bed. Thus, I own a truck. :D

Finally starting to see some Colorados/Canyons at my local dealer. The do look real nice sitting on the lot. The design of them is very appealing but I think quality trumps aesthetics any day of the week. Really hoping to get more information on the new Tacoma at the Chicago AutoShow.
