If that shock continues to leak hopefully it leaks all over the bolt/nut. Then you might have hopes of getting it off, looks pretty locked up. Ha! Better get the penetrating oil out.

Just drive the thing anyway man! You just won't have any shock dampening on that corner, but your springs are so stiff you probably won't even know. haha I drove around for a year or more with one of my rear shocks leaking. Other than the leaking fluid I couldn't even feel a difference on the road.

Recommendations for CV axle replacement? I have 3 right now(one spare that is bad) and one on the truck is bad. I'm looking to replace both on the truck with new and keep the old but good one for a spare.

    Is OEM worth the price?
Napa has new ones for 93.
Oreilly has new ones for 90.

And both store have reman ones for about 15-20 bucks less.

I've considered getting a set of 4Runner CV axles. After rebooting a set for a friend, so much easier than the Tacoma ones. I have to measure them but they look to be the same dimensionally and wouldn't expect differences.

NAPA also has a lifetime warranty on their new ones. Plus a student discount I believe.

Read that some after market axles will cause the diff seals to leak.

My Napa ones have been fine. I tried cvj but the ones I they sent me weren't OEM Tacoma.

    ...too much shit to list.
They are shit. Good-ol A1 cardone. Pot metal outers.

Also true. I was fighting axle seals on my passenger side that kept leaking ever 2-3 months. Finally gave up and bought a brand new Toyota CV and never another problem.

Agree here. Napa or Toyota IMO.

I would try to find some used OEM's at a junkyard or something first. After that I'd get the Napa remans. Konsta (rctoy) went through a lot of Oreilly ones and gave the Napa remans a try and they lasted him a lot longer.

I've checked the local junkyards from time to time for years; Tacoma's never show up. At this point I think I'll have better luck finding a unicorn.

How hard do you drive your truck? If you're tough on the CV all brands will break. I'd get one with a lifetime replacement and call it a day.

I don't mind the CV being the weak link. They're cheap and easy to replace.

The OE lasted 175k on my last Tacoma. When I put Autozone CVs on it, the boots kept blowing out. Are they made out of a different type or rubber?

Installed my URD short throw shifter today. Also replaced the shifter seat and ball/socket with the HD versions Marlin Crawler offers. My shifting is nice and tight. It seems to "click" into gear a bit better now. It shifts almost like my Saleen now. Overall I am impressed. However, I am not a big fan of the set screws. I really hope the URD adapter piece doesn't get loose and I lose a set screw in the transmission...

OEM cvs. Much stronger then parts store ones.

Go to a junk yard. I got two excellent ones for 60s bucks.
