Anyone know of a good mechanic in the Fort Collins/Loveland area? My mom's whip (2004 Hyundai Accent) needs a bunch of work. She had neglected it for a little while and when we moved her in with us I got a lot of stuff done but it needs more. Due to my shoulder & back injuries I can't do the larger projects even though I'm quite comfortable working on vehicles and generally do my own work. I'm going to do a few more smaller things (oil/filter, air filter, plugs, etc.) because I can break them up into smaller projects that my aging body can handle. I need to find a trustworthy mechanic that will charge me a fair rate to do the timing belt, CV boot/half shafts & possibly brake pads & rotors. That last one I can maybe do myself as it's more of a mid-range task but she also paid Brakes Plus to do them a couple of years ago and has lifetime pads which means they will make it up on the rotors but I plan to get a quote from them too to see if it's going to make sense to possibly set back my healing or just have them do it.

So, does anyone know a mechanic that is good at what they do that won't try to rake me over the coals on labor? Preferably in the Fort Collins/Loveland area but if the 'deal' is worth it I don't mind a little bit of driving.

A bunch of people got the 5qt jugs for half off a while back when I posted a thread for a free rebate of $12 on 5qts of Mobil 1 up to two times. Got my $24 check and a few others did too. Walmart had them priced at about $22 as I recall so pretty kick ass deal - $10 for 5qts of Mobil 1.

So I'm starting to look at new tires... maybe 295's maybe 305's. Anyone have a good idea other than duratracs? Thats what I have now and they're fine but I am looking at other options. Would like something as aggressive that is still good in wet/snow...

Austin, i just got 295/70/17 Mastercraft MXT for $212 a tire, Not mounted up yet so i can't give you an opinion on them but thats a great price for an aggressive tread and sidewall

Id say either these, or the Cooper ST MAX if you want not as an aggressive tread or the Cooper STT if you want a M/T

Thanks Brett. I'll check into it. If they changed their name or ownership I think I took either my Honda or Buick to them in the mid 90's based on the address. I think it was over there but the name was different. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was my Accord as the owner's wife had the same Accord (1990) that had over 500k miles on it and still drove it to Denver daily. It had a different name though but it's slipping my memory. I guess that happens after a couple of decades. :p

You're correct. It used to be Rocky Mountain Automotive. The owner back then went out of business because he didn't pay his bills...his money all went into one hell of a fast race car, which was eventually repossessed to pay off the bills. The new owner's name is Wayne and he's every bit as good if not better.

Yep, that's it! Too bad to hear about the previous owner as he treated me right the few times I saw him with my Accord. My next car was a 1990 GSX (AWD turbo) Eclipse which began my love affair with modifying cars which in turn lead to my love affair with having to fix said modified cars. lol I don't really have 'a guy' because I do all my own work but this needs to get done and unfortunately I'm not in any physical shape to do it either. If I mention I know you will the take care of me or charge me more? :D
