Wanting any input if there is a diff in quality etc. Are the Icon more money because of the name? Do both give there advertised lift amount? Will be adding to a 4 leaf factory overload on my 2015 Double cab.

I just received my Icon leafs today. Haven't installed yet obviously. But make sure when you do to take out the overload leaf when you do. As per directions

Keep your overload, and i would honestly recommend the wheelers single 2in aal for use with the 3+1 leaf spring. Its going to be a better pack, wont require longer u bolts, and the overload will still be used properly.

What do you mean by better? That's opposite to what most say. The word is the 3 leaf AAL "progressive" setup has a smother ride and is easier on the factory leaf pack.
Does the single go on top or under the factory overload? If it goes under wouldn't it be acting as an overload for the overload?
Really looking for which AAL is the best for the $$$ all things being equal.

    Ur kidding right?
The multi leaf setups are more compliant..... Been there had both.

As for requiring longer ubolts, they are included so its not putting anyone out.

While yes they might be smoother its due to the fact the 3 leaf AAL packs get about half of their "lift height" from the extra thickness of the actual pack itself (think a small lift block), so your really only gaining about .75 - 1 inch of actual spring lift. (this also reduces uptravel of the suspension by the same amount of the thickness of the 3 leaf pack)

They also make it to where the overload spring contacts the spring pack later causing an over arching of springs during load bearing, which will ruin the spring pack quicker.... or if your running with no overload at all you forego any benefits of the overload spring all together. AND you loose the hanger for the ebrake cable without an overload spring.

The single leaf AAL goes in the same spot as a 3 leaf. Between the overload and the bottom most stock leaf. Something like the wheelers 2in AAL is actually just over the length of the overload, so it supports the rest of the leaf pack much more as well as allowing to overload spring to contact the leaf pack as it was designed. At 1/3rd the thickness of the 3 leaf progressive AAL you loose less uptravel and gain more lift height due to actual spring rate... this increases the load handling abilities. This will produce a "stiffer" ride but its not nearly as stiff as people make it out to seem, my truck rides nice a plush.

THAT STATED.... the wheelers product and customer support i have experienced is great. I would buy their AAL's over the much more expensive icon stuff any day.

    I recently installed icon's 3-leaf 1.5" AAL
I removed the overload leaf. gave me about 1.75" lift (no tsb)
    The ride is smoother
Entire leaf pack seems to flex more.
It actually looks like I have + arch in my leaf pack (stock pack looks flat as a board)
my axle seems to stay planted better while accel. around turns.
I don't get driveline vibs under heavy acceleration like i use to
I upgraded my rear shocks a year ago to Icon 2.0 but dragged my feet on actually lifting my truck
Summary- my rear shocks made a more noticeable difference on ride quality compared to the 3-leaf AAL, but the leaf pack was definitely an improvement over stock.
The only reason i got icons over wheelers was because they were on sale on black friday

I can't speak for the Wheelers but I just had an Icon stage 4 installed and I have nothing but good things to say about it both front and rear. All the research I did said go with the progressive verse the single aal.

I've got the wheelers 1.5" with the overload left in. I really like being able to carry a decent load without squatting. Still waiting to see if they settle some more before I bump the 5100's in the front from 1.75" up to 2.5"

Did you leave your overload in?

I have heard many good things about progressive aal's and bad things about single aals, with that said Icon is a very reputable brand but the two aals are probably pretty similar.

Its about 1/4" thicker than the Wheelers AAL (if that). Hardly a "Lift Block", and not impacting up travel any more than a regular AAL. They are "smoother" due to the more progressive rate 3 thin leafs are, vs. 1 thicker leaf.

With the wheelers 1.5” and overload in, do you recall what the lift in the rear over stock was? Was it 1.5” or was it closer to 2” more than stock? I can’t tell if the single aal is designed to be installed with overload left in or not. I realize this post is old lol. Looking into this same setup on my 3rd gen as a better option than the 1” block I currently have. Can really tell the block is no bueno when towing.
