What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I'm not exactly sure if you need to remove the bed, but its a hell of a lot easier to get in there with the bed off. And with it being pretty easy to take the beds off, its kinda a 'might as well' thing. I plan on doing it when I do my frame reinforcement plates.

 

Like others said, it could probably be done without taking it off. But I had to take mine off anyway, so they were a "while I'm in there, I might as well" project. The bed being off made it a whole lot easier to make the patterns for the plates, as well.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of plating like that^ vs boxing the frame?

 

Probably not a requirement but it does make access a lot easier. Especially if you want to do other projects at the same time. Like a shock relocation or fuel pump upgrade for a super charger. Removing the bed is pretty easy.

Toppers can be done one manned, I took my bed off to do my shocks. I braced the frame but should have boxed it since I was in there.

Looks good buddy. I just did the same thing.

I only removed my bed because I'm going to box the inside and add bedsides to the bed. So you don't need to take it off.

 

Thank you sir! Nice to see the oval can up there. Looks like just about any shape/design will fit seeing as how the stock muffler is close to a 30 gallon garbage can in size.
