It looks like a Subaru.... A car-like front end. :puke:

As do most trucks around the world. Americans like our big in your face obnoxious trucks. But at least its more cohesive than the 2016's front end.

    It's not about being obnoxious....

A truck should look like something it represents...hard work, hauling, towing, muscle.

(coming from a not-so-traditional female standpoint)
Same idea...I absolutely HATE when people powder puff their guns with PINK accessories.

Regardless, the 2016 Taco has some great features and updates, but its cheesy horribly ugly over plasticized front end is a bit much and pretty overkill (guys confirming the huge empty space gap between the radiator and the front meaning toyota just bloated the shit out of it to make it look that way. Just not very clean/cohesive looking. There's a balance between car looking and f-ing ugly/over the top.

When the 2nd gen trucks first came out, everyone complained about how they looked. Comparing the 1st gen to a 2nd gen - you can say the same thing - its cheesy horribly ugly over plasticized front end.

The 2nd gens have been around for nearly 10 years. It's amazing how those original complaints have since turned into a LOVE for them.

The 2016's will grow on everyone.
:notsure:...another thread to complain about the 2016 tacoma.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Yep, yet people were saying the exact same things when the 2nd gens came out.
"Big, plastic bumper, ugly bug-eyed waste of metal, not a true compact truck deserving of the Tacoma name."

I like the second gens, but when they came out it was treated just like the 3rd gen is now. In a few months, guys will be here asking what lifts they can use to beef them up, where to place gun racks, how to build dog platforms in the access cab, etc. They will eventually grow on most of us.

Looks very similar to the Fortuner. Looks much better than the '16 Taco, I don't know what the obsession is with giant cod piece grills for the American market. Is the target market inadequate feeling men?

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
I think you have some things mixed up here.
2Gen front end looks exactly like <2001 Front end on 1gen. Just the truck is bigger, and minus metal bumper which was the biggest complain at the time. Still is, I think trucks should come with metal bumpers from factory none of that plastic cheapo.

2.1 Gen (aka 2016) truck is completely different. on the front. Its literally like somebody stick plastic cone on the radiator.

The rounded Hilux front end is due to euro vehicle safety laws or so I've seen people say many times. Has to do with being safer if you hit A pedestrian or something.

To be honest I'll take that Hilux front end over the 16 Tacoma

To me, the Hilux looks badass because it actually IS badass. All it took was some driving off road in a developing country to convince me. Carlike front end or not, it's a tougher truck than the Tacoma.

The new Tacoma is like a mall cop dressed up in a mismatched collection of fake SWAT gear it ordered off eBay. The front end of the Hilux, while not super attractive, is at least aerodynamic and functional.

I wish we got it over here.

Yup, agreed. Most truck buyers seems to have small wangs or something. Much like the whole sports car thing.
