My truck comes with the 2 year ToyotaCare maintenance program, which as far as I can tell is just oil change and tire rotation with fluid top off. I'm already a AAA member so roadside assistance isn't a biggie.

I'm pretty mechanically inclined, and already have a plan on replacing the factory fill with some Mobil 1 full synthetic. Already have a box of 10 oil fiters and plug gaskets on the way.

I'm not missing out on anything if I don't take advantage of this right? I'm very particular about maintenance on my vehicles and have a hard time letting some random mechanic work on my truck.

save yourself the time and energy and do it yourself..... too many horror stories of dealers fucking up a simple oil change and tire rotation... nothing else is done on the toyota care maintenance.

Doing it yourself also gives you the opportunity to inspect your truck and grease the U joints while your letting the oil drain.

Nope, you aren't missing anything, and I wouldn't trust them to do the oil changes correctly anyway. Let alone give them some Mobil 1 to put it in. They'll probably put that in their office and put regular oil in.

A little of this and a little of that.
It could be a really good thing for certain owners, although, I never used it with my truck.

If you have the time and resources to perform oil changes & tire rotations, then go with that. If not, let the dealer take care of it for you for the first 24 mos.

I used it but my dealer is very convenient. I just stopped on way home from work. Tire rotations saved me from dealing with Discount on a Saturday morning.

    Thats cool n all.....

Ill just say i was standing by my truck while they did the first oil change at 5k mi (i changed out the initial break in out at 1500mi myself).... the oil change boy just about started my truck with no oil in it... luckily i was standing there talking with the head service mechanic about the driveline tsb and caught the kid... needless to say i have never been back to that dealer for anything, nor has a dealer touched my truck for an oil change since.

I am using the Toyota Care service cause its free... and I get a free car wash.

However, at 30k "service" I plan on using Amsoil XL oil & Ea Filters and changing it at 10K intervals.

I used it and didn't have any problems. I have a decent dealer here though.

Around me we have a dealer called Herb Chambers. Lies, cheats, and steals to get any money from you. My Brand New 2010 with 6,000 miles on it the service tech was trying to tell me I needed new plugs, wipers, cabin air filter. Oh and that my rear brakes needed to be adjusted. I'll do all my oil changes myself thanks. They can't even put proper air in the tires.

Agreed, or if you want them to put synthetic in it without supplying it, they will charge you without mercy. Your better off doing it yourself.

I agree with this^^ but as stated before I wouldn't trust them to put synthetic oil in after paying for it or bringing it. My first one is coming up on my new 2015 and I am going to being some Mobile 1 synthetic with me, and be able to watch through the service window.

I still can't believe that happened to you. I got one for you. I brought my 2010 in for a wheel bearing issue. I had just put new N Fab stainless steel steps on my truck. So I look out in the bay and what do you think they used to put my truck in the air to look at the problem? Yes my new steps, as I sat and watched one of the steps bending and my truck to start to lean on the left side. I had to yell to someone in the shop to hurry up and get my truck down before it fell down. Why would you use someone's steps to lift their vehicle off the ground? Any I got brand new steps, a bed mat, and a Moto HD Xtender all for free.

And watching it bend and having your truck start tilting is even funnier.
