Grease covered suspension

anybody got any ideas why i would have a bunch of grease on my front suspesion? looks like its comin from my CV joints. why would it be doin that?

 

You sure your CV boot doesn't have a rip in it? Thats what it looks like to me.

 

Looks like a torn cv boot to me. Give us a clear shot of your boots

 

i found a hole in my boot, you guys were right. i wonder if my warranty will cover this...

 

is it ok to drive it until i get it fixed?

 

I would get it fixed right away, all you need is a new boot and some cv joint grease ( about $30 ). If you keep driving it ( and it looks like most of the grease has worked it's way off the joint ) eventually you will hear a dreadful 'knocking' sound while turning and there goes your cv joint and a $30 repair is now $300. Have you ever seen a vehicle in the middle of the road and it looks like the front wheel has broken off, that's cv joint failure.

 

it goes into the dealership wednesday, still under warranty!

 

I figured that would be a result of a ball joint failure. The CV is just part of the drivetrain.

 

I'd say let the dealer do it. I changed the front cv boots on my friends 1st gen and it's a bitch to say the least. It took a good six hours and quite a few cold ones. It's ok to drive it to the dealer just go easy on it.
