I agree that a trade this summer is more likely, but let's be honest, if half of the shit about what happened is true Kane won't put back on a Jets jersey next year. Period. Chevy can either trade him and get rid of the issue or bumble through this till next year and hope Kane puts on his big boy pants. I don't see the second action happening, ever.

It seems to me like a simple decision if the Jets can get acceptable return. Trade the guy, especially if Buffalo is actually interested, for a high 2nd round pick and any player can put in your roster from them that makes you a better team. That makes you better and gives you an extra pick to play with in the market or, at least, allows you to making your draft pool deeper.

Then again I'm just a normal guy, not a GM ;).

Has there ever been a situation where a GM traded for a guy who wasn't going to play for 4-6 months?
Only teams that could get away with that right now would probably be EDM, BUF, CAR and AZ. A move to trade a roster player off any other team for an injured player would and should be considered a giant middle finger/white flag to the fans and players of that team.

Can you imagine how Dubnyk feels as a goalie over the last year? The kid was touted as a top goalie prospect for years, then he has a few rough years with terrible Oilers teams so they decide to dump him and make a point of blaming him in the media. Then in the playoffs with Montreal it looks like he'll get a chance to shine and instead, he gets passed over for a rookie goaltender during the semi finals when Price gets hurt. Then he gets a contract in Pheonix as the backup, which just about every analyst says is a terrible plan for Pheonix because he's so shitty and will never be even a number 2. Finally he gets a chance to play again. He's next to lights out for Pheonix. However, Pheonix is bum happy on Smith. They blame Smiths poor play on Dubnyk "challanging" him even though Smith has been falling off for a few years , so they move the kid to Minnesota.

At the end of it all he's finally getting some credit from the fans and media as a goaltender. All in the span of less than a year. This kids heart must be made of steel. I hope he wins a Vezna one day. I want to see him get the chance to throw it in the face of the Oilers who almost successfully managed to bury his career because of their own terrible play.

And frankly, all Minnesota was really looking for him to provide was average goaltending. I don't think anybody was really expecting him to come in and play as well as he has this far, but I'm in no way complaining.

I bet Arizona is less than happy with themselves now

Wouldn't surprise me. I don't think anyone is untouchable. If the return is good I'm alright with going as far as it takes.

The 'team issues' have been ongoing. This latest media wildfire is just the tip of the iceberg. He should have been dealt last season. The offers on Kane I am referring to have not come within the past couple of weeks, they are long past offers. Kane is undergoing surgery now, he won't be dealt until summer. He will be departing, whether it be for a bag of pucks, depth players or something of obvious value.

Surgery has nothing to do if he's dealt in the summer. It's that GM who's not going to make a deal at the deadline. He believes his roster is fine to get into the playoffs which I don't have a problem with. But if the Jets want to make a push to a deeper round they might have to add some depth in their top 6 at the least. Waiting for better assets to be available in the summer would be a good move too. Again, Kane being more recovered by this time has nothing to do beyond it being just good timing. I agree he'll never wear a Jets sweater again and that would be better for both parties.

In boring American news, ESPN 30 for 30 ran this last night. I have yet to watch it
