Hello everyone, recently I have decided that I really want to turn off the daytime runnings lights for my 2001 Toyota Tacoma. I've been trying to look around online and see what to do but nothing specifically for my truck year. Came across this forum page and was hoping if anyone knew how to turn them off. All the help is much appreciated!

In your engine compartment there is a fuse box behind the battery on the driver side wheel well , Pull off the cover and look for the fuse DRL .

@kodiakisland my main headlight halogens are the same as my running lights. I would have headlights without the bulbs.

Yup , thats how I did mine with no issues . But make sure you cut the right wire , Double check and triple check b4 you cut . The ground wire is next to the one you have to cut and if you cut the ground wire you will have all sorts of problems . Good luck and keep us posted .

@muddog67 @stocktrd Thanks guys! I'm going to try and get to it soon. Just for confirmation, the first wire in the relay, the green and white one, that's the one that needs to be cut right? Also, I'm having a hard time finding out how to detach the relay from under the knee panel. Anyone got any knowledge on that? Does it just pop out?

I have a 2002 with optional DTRL, yours are always on even with the lights in the off position?

Mine only turn on with the ignition if i left them in the on position and turned off the truck, otherwise they do not come on.

@Tacomeelmo , Mine come on and stay on as soon as the E-brake is put down. Even if the headlights are turned off, the running lights are turned on.

How odd, thats how my friends 2008 corolla is.. there is a trick though i think if she turns them off and then on and off again with the engine running they turn off. not sure though.

I wonder why our trucks have a different setup for the lights.
