Recently added brand new trd beadlocks to new BF Goodrich all-terrains. Had wheels "balanced" at Bob Sumerel tire shop. Supposedly they road forced balanced. But I watched them do it and two tires showed a warning on the screen telling the guy to match mount the rim low spot to the tire high spot. They by passed that step and instead just spin balanced. I should have said something but didn't. Wish I would have now. I have a steering wheel shimmy from 50mph and up. My question is would I benefit from a correctly done road force balance along with the use of the Haweka adapter. The shimmy drives me crazy as the truck only has 26k miles. Tires and wheels are new. I'm positive the wheel weights didn't fall off. My shimmy is definitely a balance issue. How much does the Haweka adapter help? Any input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I really like truck but can't stand driving above 50mph.

You might want to rotate your tires to see if you can pinpoint the problem to a single wheel/tire.

After the original 'spin' balance.... request that they take the tire off, rotate the tire (on the machine) 180 degrees and spin it again.

Will ask them to rotate 180' after the first balance. Is the Haweka the key to getting good balance on our sensitive Tacomas?

I also had the same issue after having TRD beadlocks installed.Road force balancing at one tire shop did not help..i had the front wheels rebalanced at a different place.Problem was resolved.First place reimbursed me.I compared the print outs."within tolerance" wasn't good enough for these wheels.I have a 1994 Miata that is the same way.

You should take it back and have it redone. Not familiar with the trd beadlocks but are those hub centric or lug centric wheels ? If lug centric, hub rings may help with vibes but in your case, it sounds like an incompetent tech.

Just got wheels balanced using Haweka adapter. Smooth as glass. For anyone experiencing wheel vibration you must use the adapter. It centers the wheel perfectly on the balancer using the lug holes.

Road force balancing is only as good as the tech at the wheel (pun intended). And your observation is correct, you did NOT have a Road Force balance. You had a lazy tech who did a spin balance on a machine capable of doing a Road Force. Hopefully they did not charge you a premium for this work.

    Yep.

I see you now have the issue resolved. Good! Just tossing this out there for the good of the order. Never take things for granted, particularly when you are paying for it!

And like Roadking1, I too had years of experience with a very sensitive Miata suspension. It wasn't difficult to do, even with race tires, but it had to be in the hands of the right tech.

Hey i know it's an old thread, did you leave the rings on when you got them rebalanced? When America's Tires first mounted my tires they didn't have the rings on and my truck road fine. I got them rebalanced 2 times and my truck drives like crap.
