Grilled some pork chops for dinner last night.
Rubbed it with yellow mustard, then added a little cajun spice, mesquite bbq seasoning, course ground pepper and of course always a little garlic.
The brocolli was grilled also (my wife and I prefer it grilled, but the kids like it steamed, so we take turns in how we prepare it) The cheese topping is also to keep the kids happy - they will eat anything with cheese on it.
Gravy for the rice is corn starch, chutney, butter, little bit of bbq sauce and little bit of worchesterchire sauce.

^^^That dip looks great Dennis! I have a bad habbit of late night snacking. I try to do carrot sticks, grape tomotoes etc., but the other options like chips & dip, choc-chip cookies etc. typically wins the battle.

since you're not a mustard hater like Ryan try this on pork chops (or a pork roast) sometime:
mix a couple tablespoons of grey poupon (the kind with the whole seeds in it), couple tablespoons of EVOO, about half a teaspoon each of celery seed, sage, black pepper and paprika. Coat the pork in it and grill/bake. so good.

...and I don't think I've ever seen gravy on rice before

Gravy and various other sauces on rice is AWESOME

I found this by accident making the pan-seared then baked pork chops I linked in here.

I had browned the chops nicely, got them into the oven with the soup base and then browned the onions and mushrooms to go with. The pan was CAKED with fond.

So, I snagged a couple stock cubes from the freezer and used them to deglaze the pan and reduce a bit into an intensely flavorful sauce. As much to clean the damned pan as anything!

The next day we had leftovers, and ran short on rice so I made more....just as I was plating, I remembered the sauce I had made with the fond, and used it on the white rice.

*nomnomnom* with the leftover mushrooms and onions mixed in

The best part about pork chops is having pocket chops later in the week.

ketchup is a vegetable..or darn near close to it. i remember when schools qualified it as such.

i like it..dont love it. i use it as an ingredient more than a sauce. however, i will squirt some on my Loco Moco!

I will try that (although I don't like the idea of "poupon" on my food :p )

I guess the gravy on rice is from my European background. It is just the way you eat rice. Just plain rice would be boring.

About the only use I have for mustard in my kitchen is as part of my stroganoff. I left it out once and ... well, I always keep a jar in the fridge even just for that purpose now.
