What bothers me about trophy hunting, is if you continually take the biggest a best animals every year, then you are going against nature which rewards the biggest and best animals with breading, there by continuing the strongest blood lines. You take that animal out and the less than adequate start to breed and it weakens the population.
All these hunters out there that say they hunt for meat but show you a string of pics that show trophy sized animals is a crock.
The trophy animals are usually the worst meat just by the nature of their lives.
Shoot (pew, pew) the younger animals and your meat will be better, shoot (click, click....camera) the trophy animals and put a picture on your wall.
I am in no way against hunting, I hunt all the time. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Valid point, for most. Some times the best trophy dear are younger, then their impressive trophy rack is actually mounted on a larger/older dear's pelt. Then they are just as tasty.

Squirrel is one of my favorite meats anyway.

 

Being that I'm American I see no need to include any other country but my own in my statement. I live here and my concern is more about what goes on here than some other country.

It is an interesting situation to be in.

Not saying I disagree with you, just thinking it through. If I was in that situation, and this guy comes up to my car with a gun drawn pointed at me, of course I don't want my truck stolen, but at what cost? Is it worth it to risk my own life in order for my truck not to get stolen?

Honestly not sure how I would handle a situation like that. Actions will usually be different than what we are thinking in the safety of not being involved.

 

What if you had your kid in the back seat?

 

Yea, that definitely adds a different element to it as well.

If my kid was in the car, that makes it an entire different situation. It would no longer be just a car that was being stolen, but one of the only real reasons to use deadly force to protect family.

 

Every situation will lead to different fight or flight mentality.

 

that'd be a hairy situation if you carried w/ a weapon in the vehicle. Risk assessment, you'd probably just get out of the truck

but then the now-felon has both your truck and your weapon, if he finds it, the situation just got worse
