    Hi, guys

My Tacoma stereo with the 6 cd changer is not working... now i have 4 cd's that I can't retrieve. Every time I try to eject an error message comes up... and sometimes the stereo just turns off by itself...

Any info you might have about this will be helpful... I believe I still have warranty... but i wanted to consult you guys before taking it to the dealership.

I consult you to take it to the dealership.

I think you'll end up being really lucky if you get the CDs back. Probably won't.

Press and hold the eject button. That should force the CD's out. Then...See if the radio works before trying the CD's again.

Did you try it with the engine off, and key out of the ignition??

dam. Im guessing the next step is the dealer. Sorry. :(

You did hold it down for around 10 seconds, though, right?

Never heard of it before on this truck, but they got stuck in the changer on my last car and I got a new radio but never got the CDs back. (They were 'possibly' going to come back by mail from the man. but I never got em)

I have the same problem. 6 cds stuck in changer. Will not play when selected 'error 3' displayed. Will not change or eject, but radio still works.
This is one of my biggest complaints about my '06 Taco.....will eventually change to aftremarket head unit.

My wife's 04 Accord's 6 disc changer jammed up with 6 of my cds in it. On vacation out of state, no less. Radio still worked. Took it to a dealer on vacation who said cd player was through and all I/they could do was install a new h/u for $750. They also knew of a shop I could mail dead unit to and they'd try and get my cds out. No promise they could. Radio was out of warranty. I was on my own. I limped it back home using just the radio. Being the carpenter that I am, I pulled the h/u, took it apart, retrieved my cds, reassembled and reinstalled it. worked like a charm. One of the cds had a paper label that caused the jam. NO PAPER LABEL CDS IN A CHANGER. Like I said, It was out of warranty and it's already not working, I figured I didn't have much to lose by cracking it open. At least I'd have my cds back. My situation was different from yours because your still under warranty. I wouldn't go opening my h/u until they were through replacing it.But I sure would do my damnedest to open it at dealership. I'd want my cds back.

You may try d/c the radio harness in the back of radio for a minute and reconnect to see if the radio resets itself. If not under warranty, I would take it apart to retreive the CD's. Like 05 TRD Sport, I've done it in the past with a changer and it began working again. Plastic gears was not tracking right to eject the CD's, worked after I 'screwdrivered' it out.

I had a similar problem, radio worked but no CD player functions, I took the unit out and took the top cover to the CD off and the top CD was somehow off the center drive, lightly pushed it down, reinstalled head unit, now CD player works.
