Texas has a "kill them before they can kill you" mentality to it. Our neighborhood watch includes three retired zoomies, a squid, two grunts, and a gyreen. Anyone up to any malfeasance in my 'hood should pray the cops get to them first...

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
If someone is willing to rob me at gunpoint, I am willing to return the favor and make sure that they don't do it to someone else who may not be.

Meh, thats why you carry on you.

I would get out of my truck and as he passes me to get in, zap, anywhere from 2-16 rounds will be in/through him.

Where is the line between self defense and assault?

From my unofficial view.....if the car jacking is done and he is driving away from you, and you start shooting at him....youre no longer defending yourself. But it's a fine line. Thoughts?

He wouldnt be driving, he would be assaulting me as he is passing me getting out of my vehicle and he is getting in.
I wouldnt shoot as he is driving away. To much opportunity to miss and hit a bystander.

It seems like this happens more and more around CA, it is getting out of hand. I love my truck, but in a case like this were no other people in the car, he would probably be driving off in it (though I lock my doors) not worth being killed over. Also its very hard to get a CCW in CA making it easier for criminals like this scum to approach a car knowing odds are in their favor you are not carrying

I really doubt you would be able to get your gun out in time if he ran up to you with his gun already on you :notsure:

Not worth dying over a truck

You would be shooting at people behind your truck stuck in traffic too in that situation in the video. Considering police miss something like 60%+ of the shots they fire in situations like that the chances are pretty high that you hit something behind you and possibly kill someone.

Legally it depends on the state. Different places have different laws regarding property and that specifically.

However ASSAULT is defined by the realistic belief that you will be harmed by the person assaulting you. Just as an example, if you were to act like you were going to punch someone, and they believed you were going to hit them. THAT is assault, you don't actually have to cause any harm.

Realistically I think it would end up as more of an adrenaline and reflex thing for some. Probably wouldn't even think about it until his gun was off me and mine was lighter.

But if for whatever reason, I was pulled out under gunpoint, and somehow the assailant had made it far enough to be already driving away.. Well then, what if that guy who was clearly willing to threaten you with your life, takes off in your truck and hits the roads. Who else is in there way? What is going to happen when you accept that this person just threatened your life, took your property and is now headed out to endanger others..

Its better to be tried by twelve than carried by 6. And if that is someone you could have kept from dying, and you didn't... I would not want to live with that myself.

That is entirely something that you should be aware of before you pull the trigger.

Haven't been able to see any of the videos or pictures yet. My work computer isnt allowing it for some reason.
Just speaking as a typical reaction, need to see the actual scenario. My bad.

I used to play paintball a lot but I got so sick of all the dick heads at the field.
So many people starting fights over nothing with kids it just stopped being fun after a while. :(

Nope, probably not unless you saw him coming.

Wait until the chance comes up, like as you exit or they enter.

It also depends on how you carry, and how you carry in the vehicle too..

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I always keep my doors locked and windows up (when I'm not moving). Having been rear-ended 5 times while stopped at lights, I make a point now to avoid traffic areas as much as possible. It's hard to hit me if I'm not there.

Even though we have a large homeless population here (hippies), the panhandlers aren't always homeless. Anyone who approaches my window without my consent is covered.

During the situation portrayed in that video, any gun owner with their gun in their possession would have had plenty of time to prepare for the situation. That asshole would have been shot dead reaching for the door handle if that was my Mercedes.

USAA comprehensive coverage covers fixing that hole.

Same deal here, I was assuming it was the one I saw on the news but can't see the video or pictures..

    Every situation is different.

This in a nutshell. As a licensed CC person, it is your responsibility to protect life and property of others, not just yourself.

With that said, you need to be aware of what you are shooting at and what is beyond your target.
