 Well, called a few dealerships in .ca today for a price on extended warranty. My truck came from the US and I bought it at a Canadian Toyota dealer (2007 with 33k miles on it now). I was told that Toyota Canada will not give the ECP to a US truck.

Last week, I called Jerry Johnson (found on another thread) and he told me that because the truck is now in Canada, he can't give me extended warranty.

Joyous - now I am S.O.L. for going with Toyota and will have to look at finding extended warranty from another source - looks like I won't be going for extended warranty

The dealer should have informed me that I can't buy warranty through Toyota Canada... I'll be having words with them next week when I drop my truck off for the TSB inspection.

    Any thoughts?

I have a USA truck and I live in Canada. My 2 cents - you don't need extended warranty!!!
Its a waste of money. Being a 07, you still have the balance of the factory anyways, which is 100% valid and can be warrantied at a Canadian dealer, regardless if it is a Canadian or USA Tacoma.

    CanadianBoy is right...
remember, its a taco were talking about here... Save your hard earned cash for other things... extended warranty's are how these dealers make tons of cash... There may be legal binding reasons that they wont sell extended service plan to you, but dont worry about it bro... she's a champ, and will never let you down.

I wondered the same thing regarding the extended warranties.
I bought my truck new in the US (2008).
I have had absolutly no issues getting warranty work done (I've only had it in for the Rear Spring TSB,a new Steering Wheel, and the parking break adjusted) I don't think the dealers even noticed it was from the US.

I've driven Toyota for many years and have never had the need for an extended warranty, that being said I've seen some very good deals posted here and thought that it may be worth it, but wasn't sure if it was applicable in my case.

Did you contact the guy on the above link?

Well! Glad I found Troy Dietrich (413-772-0231) from Greenfield Toyota (thanks to (and rep!) tammikm for the link) - 7year/100k (miles) for $945USD.. and he will insure my truck even though it's in Canada. You can't beat peace of mind for for that kind of money! :D

I called Canadian Toyota Dealerships yesterday and for a 7 year/120k (kms! or 74k miles) they wanted $2399 + tax (10%) for a grand total of $2638!

BTW for those of you in .ca, he said that if it was a Canadian truck, there would be a $100 surcharge. so $1045USD! So, if you WANT extended warranty, contact him.

    Peace - out.

That's good to know. What proof do you get to ensure that it is indeed valid in Canada?
I know the regular warranty is

I would dare say that when they run the VIN at the dealer that it should come up... as it's from Toyota, it's the ECP and not a 3rd party warranty.

I'll double check with him tomorrow - all I need to do is e-mail him a copy of my registration and personal affidavid that the mileage is what the display is.
